Removing GC restrictions and combining NA data centers for PvP would fix the queue situations overnight. I would support an official PvP server that the community could gravitate towards, but I think it's a waste of time to create an open world PvP server when most of this game is instanced rather than open-world (as opposed to say Ultima Online or EQ1).
Open Instanced PvP then. Gosh, so technical : pRemoving GC restrictions and combining NA data centers for PvP would fix the queue situations overnight. open world pvp will had a level of excitement and danger that the game really needs 'cause it gets boring killing robots over and over and over. we should be able to raid the main cities too, no where will be safe!
I support this.
where is the suggestion forum? Couldn't find it...
Here's some of my comments/suggestions I felt like sharing:
Open world pvp is something this game is seriously lacking. And I hope PvP in general gets some serious attention soon. The new Feast game mode should be cool but other than that there's a lot to work on. I still don't understand the ilvl cap at 180 and why the i180 PvP gear has Morale on it if the ilvl cap is 180 in Seal Rock?... I want it to be worth my time getting better gear/weapons to be able to do more damage/live longer in PvP rather than it be some "no player left behind" mentality. At least raise the ilvl to 200...it's like the devs forgot they even implemented this stuff and its been just sitting like that since it was released.
Previous Post Continued:
And 99% of the time in Seal Rock (the only frontline I've been able to play since I've only been playing for about 2 months) in battle situations, it's just all about how many people you have behind you and just zerging people down and hardly any skill comes into play, there's hardly any time to even have any skill come into play usually. It's really annoying. Make frontlines with less people. I come from playing WoW a long time ago and would love to see ffxiv's PvP systems become as good as their's because almost everything else about ffxiv is better/just as good. Rewards need to be updated more often so people have more incentive to get into pvp/keep doing pvp...just a lot of kinks need to be worked out. PvE gets old as hell, especially the dungeons...no matter how many you make. Get your pvp developers or whatever into gear and lets see some real changes (improvements) being made.
Support. Would change servers for pvp.
Gotta be honest...I don't think this game was made for this. Don't get me wrong, I love a good open-world PvP MMO, but they have to be built as such from the ground up, and for FFXIV that's just not the case. The dynamic of the entire game would have to change, and even though that's what everyone on this thread is hoping for, I don't think they understand what that entails. Most MMOs that implement open-world PvP have pre-designed safe areas, with sanctioned faction-based populations, not just cities mind you, that other factions can't access. FFXIV doesn't, and more importantly - can't. Everyone has to have access to everywhere, and even low-lvl areas have reasons for high-lvl players to come back to. This could only be feasible (and barely at that) if even the PvP servers, as has already been suggested above, had an option to turn PvP off, make it so you can't be attacked, and I guarantee that even those of you who want this will eventually want to switch to no-PvP just so you can play the game...
If Yoshida does follow through with this, I wonder if he intends it as an experiment, just to see what would happen. I think it'll be a hack fest for a few weeks, after which everyone will go "Whoa, this wasn't as good of an idea as I thought..." and go back to normal play.
Before the hate starts, just know that I too would love some open world PvP content, but I think it'd be better suited to new areas in the future, places we could go (at all times) that was faction based, had territory rules, and reasons for us to participate other than "cuz I wanna knife a noob".
