Meanwhile, Tataru designs Y'shtola a brand new shiny outfit.Enter Rowena, whose apprentices extort you for ultra-rare artifacts and high-quality merchant goods in exchange for the materials for your new weapon.
Assuming you can take care of your own gear is just like assuming someone will have the necessary tools to do their job when they're hired. And while we may be famous now, they supplied us with nothing I can remember to go take on our first three (hell, they were unable to do so at all for the last of the "starter trio"), and nobody gives us anything for free despite all the effort we put into saving their skins time and again.
And you get nothing.
I am a bit bitter about that, actually.
Edit: Wait, I lied.
You get a Wind-Up Cid.
Yeah. Well, I have to give the Scions credit. They know how to appeal to the WoL's kleptomania.

At least they pay better than Benjamin's parents. His allowance is only 2 Gil a month!
I never had that problem. If you have more than the general 2 retainers and send all of them out on Quick Explorations every hour, that's about 1.6k GC seals per retainer you use up per day.
Depending on your number of retainers, that can be up to 12,8k seals per day. Not easy to make that much, even with roulette rewards, craft/gathering turn-ins and need/greeding on any green/pink item drop you see in dungeons.
And if you also need materials or gear sometimes, good luck with that. I can't remember the last time I made it to 20k Seals.
Not just Y'shtola. She made one for Alphinaud too and said she made one for every Scion to greet them with when they return (mean Thancred bought himself a new outfit already, though).
I'm still hung up on the fact she never even considered making one for the WoL too >.>
Yeah they really don't give us much. I mean not only do we slay all of those monsters for them and do other important world saving things, no they had to insult us further by giving shiny new outfits and weapons to the other scions..Thanks Tataru for completely forgetting about us ;_; its not like we just started to finish this long war or that we saved your butt from a certain death sentence. Nope we just get some nice words and some gil. Heck even after we went into the enemies base at the end of the 2.0 story we barely get anything for it. (By the way this would have been a nice way to introduce instanced player housing by offering it for free as a reward from the cities as a thanks)
If I had the choice I would just say bye bye to all of them and do my own adventure but sadly this wont be possible in the story.
But they are not the only ones who barely do anything for us. Every person we meet wants something in return for help or information even after all the things we did. I know its just a game feature but it still feels bad. There was only one truly nice person but he ....Q_Q..*cries in a corner*
And no just because some of us has a lot of gil not everyone is a rich adventurer. So more gil or other goods would have been nice. At least it would have given me the feeling that they care about us..
They don't make us anything because they know we just steal everything from the dungeons we raid.
It could had been worse, you could had taken that undead kid to the Gold Saucer and have it fight alongside Chocobo chicks, bear cubs, puppies and kittens for your own personal glory, or put it up on the market board for that matter
The Warrior of Light is a sad, twisted individual.
And here the Ascians are the ones claiming to be bringers of chaos.
What does that say about those who bought the child from the market board?
