    Astrologian Macros

    Hi all,

Relatively new to the game and also new to Astro healing. First thing that I noticed is a lot of people were confused about why I was throwing cards at them, and what the purpose of each one was. I was a bit confused at first too!

I use a lot of macros on my SCH so wanted to add some to AST too that would help raise awareness of the buffs that were going out. I've shared them here in a Google Drive file for anyone that's interested.

    Have fun healing!

If people are still confused by cards nowadays, after what? Six months?, then it's their fault. There is absolutely no reason to macro cards and raise awareness. People should be aware of any buffs/debuffs they have on at all times. And the AST ones are hard to miss.

I commend you for your effort, but I strongly advise people to NOT do this. People already believe that healers should babysit them enough as it is, and there's no need to add more fuel to the flame.

I couldnt agree more but if we do nothing we still would'nt benefit to those clueless to the divine power. I personally have thought to do this but we'll see. Im sure everyone knows what the balance is, but may now take advantage of other cards, I already have to estimate the time some dps pop CDS because not all like to listen.

Outside of raids, where you should be communicating through voice chat, why does it matter that people may or may not know what card is being played on them?

A nice idea perhaps for newer AST. I only use a single macro on AST though and its a discard macro.

I think what you're doing is great. But I also think people should know by themselves what buffs they have and what these buffs do.
Despite that, if you use balance on a DPS who's actually DPSing, he/she might not notice it, but the effect will still apply, so is a gain the same way... Spear may be tricky, but then you save it for yourself, XD

And a tip: use your /micon commands at the end of the macro to avoid queueing one more command line when you press the button ^.^

Yep, discard is the is the only macro I use, aside from a standard Disable <t> <tt> target macro.

Ideally one can click-off a "bad" card but having one button to trash it is way simpler to use. (/statusoff)

This is what I was thinking. A bit ago there was a post for tips for new AST thread. It actually was helpful, and I did make macros. Just the general one to let people know what to do, or what it could do. What they do after that is up to them.

It came down to a mixture of people who need to be educated but also you expect them to have a bit of trial and error. It was a bit difficult to try to cover all the bases. By now I would expect people to know what the cards are but DPS and Tanks have so much to do I like letting them know a bit more.

Communication is important, not just to complete a trial or raid but to help people understand what is going on. Maybe you're teaching things they didn't even knew they had to understand. I've taught so many people about wtf Spear does, because it's usually thrown back in our deck or used for a buff sometimes. That and it can break the ice in parties. My benediction one is "Using Benediction on <t>: I better not have wasted it on a #$% DRG!" and we all laugh. It lets also everyone know I have used that, so in a Tanks mind they will know "Okay he doesn't have bene..well..good for him."

The only macros I use are target of target <tt > for the dots and attacks so I never have to click off the tank. I had echo macros when I first started ast so I could read the text in larger font than what was on the tool tip until I got used to what the cards did.

Echoes stay invisible to party but they're lines of text you can read privately in your own text box. Personally I don't think anyone in the party cares what you're giving them, most barely notice unless they run a parser to see what your actions were during the battles and how often you drew a card ability.

Plus, unless you're in a full RP group, spamming ability macros in pt chat is really distracting if the other people aren't in that line of thinking. Especially those that add sounds to them...
