I don't experience any lag whatsoever, move out of Texas.

As dismissive as your comment may be, this is a known and verifiable issue with the Level 3 connection to the SE servers we all tie back to. There is a noticeable and irritating intermittent lag issue with this game. It is mainly present in raid servers I have noticed, on reset day it is the worst. I would chalk it up to congestion perhaps, since most statics are raiding on reset day as well.
That being said, this lag issue is a huge damper on the fun and my static has simply quit some nights because fights we should be one-shotting keep insta gibbing us because every gets random 5-10 second periods where the game simply stops responding. We all play other games online as well, where issues such as this are not present, so it is an issue unique to SE's server environment.

You need to talk to your ISP as they're the ones choosing to route your connection through L3 servers. Square Enix have no control over how your Internet connection is routed to their servers.
I personally play from the United Kingdom to Sargatanas (an NA server - located on a completely different continent) and have never in the last 3 years experienced any lag problems. I appreciate this is of absolutely no help to you or anyone else with problems and I'm sorry you are having issues and I'm not trying to rub this in your face, but rather point out that this isn't an SE issue. It's a routing problem. You need to get your ISP to change your route and if they won't, change your provider.
Square Enix can speak to the providers and make them aware of the problem (and for all we know they probably have since they make the big threads asking people to report network issues), but they can't force any changes when it's not their network.
You, the customer who pays the ISP actual money, needs to lean on them to do that.

Called a monopoly mate. NA ingress and egress to that data center is controlled by Level 3 and there are only 3 main connections to that DC for the NA populace, many regions in the NA have no choice but to use the level 3 ingress to the data center.

We American customers have zero leverage to "lean" with. American ISPs have little to no customer support, most calls are outsourced to other countries who read off support scripts they cannot deviate from, and our ISPs have giant monopolies. So we can't usually quit and go to another provider, or if there is one, there's substantial contract cancellation fees.
Essentially we are caught between two entities pointing at the other telling us it's not their fault and they won't do anything.

Oh. (not really sure what else to say!)
I apologise then for my complete misunderstanding of the situation then![]()

No worries mate, I figured you just didn't know.
Basically our only recourse is to try and be as loud as possible to see if one corporation will actually talk to the other one.
