I'm making this message because I ended again with some overblown heads who kicked me out because of my playstyle as thaumaturge, which mainly consist of never being manaempty (rotating bliz and fire).

And here comes the overblown ego heads that claim it's actually better to spend the whole MP casting fire1, then transpose as it supposedly restore the whole MP bar, which does not happen when I tried it and I didn't like it. Fine, I can understand that some players love to play it like that, but get it in your skull that there's more than one playstyle!

Giving advice is OK, but telling the other exactly what he should do, how he should do and how to play is called ruining the fun. If you are one of those with the overly inflated ego, please, just stop believing your way is always good. There's more than one good way to play, each player has it's own.

I agree. One reason why I intially avoided BLM is because I've seen a lot of people just talk crap about "bad black mages" and how they are just doing the job all wrong. Why would anyone wanna play a job like that if all they do is get criticized for having fun? I certainly didn't wanna be that person. But I've got it to level 32 atm and so far I'm enjoying it and honestly thats fine.

I personally don't believe in kicking people out of DF parties when things are dying (even slowly...I'll cringe, but if progress is happening IDC) but

isn't that what you're supposed to do? Fire till no MP > Transpose > Bliz till full MP > Fire then repeat
I mean I don't main BLM but I am currently HW levelling it and isn't that the most basic rotation...? I've personally done the whole "oops I Flare'd now I'm OOM and I don't have transpose or Convert up so I'm stuck sitting with nothing to do for ten seconds" thing and while it is embarrassing...the second your MP ticks back a Blizzard is all you need to get back all your MP.

So what I'm saying is, you don't like being empty on MP, which is fair, but THM, and in turn BLM have -literally- the best MP regeneration in the game. No contest. No equal. You NEVER have to worry about being OOM as a THM.

Also, alternating them makes you not go into Astral Fire or Umbral Ice, which means weak damage and weak MP regen.

Anyway I'm sorry you were kicked from your group. I do wish people were a little nicer to others learning jobs and would take the time to explain things properly without getting angry or losing patience.

I just noticed something, too. You said you used Transpose and it was "supposedly restore the whole MP bar, which does not happen". That's not how transpose works. All it does is make Astral Fire go to Umbral Ice (and vice-versa), without having to cast two Fire or two Blizzard spells to do it. After transposing from Astral Fire into Umbral Ice, you cast more Blizzards and THIS is what fills your MP bar. At higher levels it seems almost instantaneous, because Umbral Ice III has a ridiculous MP regen rate.

I have zero experience in this as BLM is actually the only job I never unlocked, but just from my observations, compared to other jobs, BLM mains do tend to be extremely vitriolic towards each other about the right way to play a job that, as I understand it, is overwhelmingly easy.

Sorry but there really isn't. If you can't figure out those basics of THM/BLM by reading what your skills do then you should take all the advice you can get from more experienced players.

Please don't invoke ~MY PLAYSTYLE~ when you're being significantly suboptimal. It's one thing to rearrange a thunder or fire cast because of muscle memory, but it's another to actively ignore how your job works because you don't want to run out of MP... On a job that never runs out of MP if you're using the mechanics correctly.

I am not sure if i understand you correctly but with alternating fire and bliz, do you mean doing a couple of fires and then a couple of bliz's? If thats the case i think thats fine, not optimal but surely not a reason to get kicked.

If however you mean literally alternating fire and bliz then thats frankly terrible and not utilizing the class at its base core, which would justify the complaint.
Using fire gives you stacks of a buff called astral fire, which would buff all your following fires by a significant amount. The same happens with casting ice spells but instead they give you a buff called umbral ice, which would give you mp regeneration. Not using that is basically like a melee or tank not using combos.
