You'd actually get more dps by being an ice mage at this point, cause your every other spell you do is actually doing less potency while it erases your astral/umbral. and you won't run out of mana compared to alternating between fire/blizzard.

Damn this 1000 character limit cap. Many replies ensuing.
Well, the party I was in claimed it refunded the whole MP bar, which is wrong if you read correctly the effect. Wanted to correct them on that point, but never had the chance since they kicked.I just noticed something, too. You said you used Transpose and it was "supposedly restore the whole MP bar, which does not happen". That's not how transpose works. All it does is make Astral Fire go to Umbral Ice (and vice-versa), without having to cast two Fire or two Blizzard spells to do it. After transposing from Astral Fire into Umbral Ice, you cast more Blizzards and THIS is what fills your MP bar. At higher levels it seems almost instantaneous, because Umbral Ice III has a ridiculous MP regen rate.
Not a troll thread, trolls are worse. And anyway, trolling is not fun and ruins the player base, you'll know what I mean if you ever played LoL or CoD. There is a problem, and that problem is that some players got their heads so big it won't pass the doorframes anymore.
I'm not reaching endgame yet cause I'm waiting after some irl friends who also play the game. Also, if I don't respond as much on the forum, I'm usually in game, watching anime, working, playing other games or reading. Another note, this is not the forum I prefer the most to frequent since some posters here seem to have an attitude problem. He hasn't reached end game yet. His highest character is 54.
Though he has an impressive amount of characters around 30.
He also hasn't had any responses to any of his previous posts. So this looks like attention grabbing/troll bait.
It's also possible, he's just legitimately bad. I was bad too for a while. *snip, shortened for lenght*
And that's where you fail as human. You standardize and put everything in the same exact mold when everyone is different and plays differently. I'm playing games since over 20 years ago. I'm used to never being mana empty. I find using fire repeatedly burn the bar too much, but I do have my small rotation that uses transpose. Never went bellow half the mp bar for no reason, best reasons being in boss fights. Guess you were a great bully in school. You have the wrong idea about FFXIV.
Jobs to not have "builds" or "specs" or "styles." They each have a single, stringent and optimal rotation - an ideal. Every buff and ability fits into a rhythm, which produces The Best Outcome when executed in time. Any deviation from this rhythm is necessarily Not-The-Best Outcome.
*snip, shortened*
The sooner you accept there's one way to do it, the sooner you can start mastering it.
Everyone plays differently, and the way you're playing is objectively failing at the role you're queuing up as...that is, being a damage dealer. The matter of fact is, this game does not have talent trees or effective class/job customizations. There's always one way to deal damage that's generally the most effective, assuming the circumstances apply. You're either playing the class right, or you're not (and going by your OP, you aren't since you clearly are not utilizing the core mechanic of blackmage)
You say that like it's a good thing... The entire point of BLM is to empty out your mp bar through fire spells (they csot so much mana because they are much more powerful), and you swap into umbral to regenerate that mana. By alternating your blizzard and fire spells without a thought, you're actually lowering your damage and using up more mp than you're regenerating because you don't ever stay in umbral to regenerate, while at the same time umbral reduces damage dealt by fire spells. You're literally going to do more damage by just spamming blizzard because it's always going to be the full damage and you keep umbral the entire time and never worry about mana. Sounds like SMN is more of your job if you're that concerned with having your mana drop below half (and even then, there are exceptions for SMN as well to empty out their mp).I'm playing games since over 20 years ago. I'm used to never being mana empty. I find using fire repeatedly burn the bar too much, but I do have my small rotation that uses transpose. Never went bellow half the mp bar for no reason, best reasons being in boss fights. Guess you were a great bully in school.

If you're doing crap damage because of your "Playstyle" you're dragging people down, being inconsiderate and simply aren't playing well. It's one thing if you're learning and receptive to advise, but to close yourself off and take on such a juvenile "I pay my sub I'll play how I like" attitude means you deserve to be kicked. And that's where you fail as human. Actually, this game is very on the rails, and does not allow people to play well using their own rotations based on preferance. Sure, you can use the really, really bad method you mentioned. But you will always be an anchor to your team, the kind people mention in the "Tails from the Duty Finder" thread. I think you are trolling myself, but on the off chance you aren't read, please your tool tips again. And that's where you fail as human. You do realise you do more damage in astral fire with three stacks right, and very little damage in umbral ice. Also, your class has stupid mp regen, if you run out of mp, all you do is transponse, then cast blizz, and at most 6 seconds later you are full mp... there is no reason or logic between going to half mp. None at all, your preferance of this shows you have no understanding of how the class is built.

Mind your mana's.
May I add that I LOVE that your name is Sensei? I think you should use the upcoming mentor system and teach all upcoming BLMs. We need your words of wisdom to be spread amongst the peasant BLMs who fail to see mana is a scarce and limited resource!
I was serious about this problem. I met many players who believed themselves gods because they had all the classes at 60, like tanks pulling so far that everyone else died and blaming the healer. Or even a white mage that caught so much agro it was almost always dead and when constructed advice was given, the mage trolled by dancing on the corpse of the person who gave advice, trolling until kicked.
