I liked this even though I am on the way to main a Bard. Mainly cause I have same problem. People complain about my playstyle or the fact I 'adept to the situation' Example:

I was in DV again after a very long time so I had to remember the mechanics. Which I did quite fast, anyway we reach the last boss and I forgot it attacks with a whirlwind in the middle. Now I stayed at the side AWAY from the gryphon so when the attack came I was not near a rock. However I ADAPTED. I went to outer part of the area and kept running there during the attack receiving ZERO damage, much like when you hide behind a rock... YET they complained. What does it matter? I mistook situation but got away without receiving damage.

Let people play their class the way they want. Give advice but do not hammer on it. This ruins the fun for the player. Everyone out there brave enough to TRY other ways: Keep it up, be you and get the most out of your class you can muster!

If that is the case there are plenty of solo games out there to play.

But coming into an MMO and telling everyone that you are allowed to play any way you want, even if it means disregarding the playstyles, time and enjoyment of the rest of your party is just bad form and generally come from selfish individuals who want to blame 'elistism' instead of realizing that they are usually the ones in the wrong. If you are learning, that is fine, take the advice others give, but using the "it's my way, screw you" argument is extremely childish and just as, if not more elitest than those you come to complain about.

You, Sir, are missing the point. People come to MMO for the social aspect not to be told how to play the game and if you do your part good enough even if it is a bit unusual, then no one should complain. It would be boring if everyone battled the same and knowing SE there is more than one way. You must be one of those Elitists cause I never called anyone thus. But this is all I will say about this before it turns into a argument forum which I have seen plenty of times as well...

Actually it was a general thread made BY a BLM but about people letting them choose their own style. You can read the first post if you do not believe me. Yes she says it AS a BLM but the subject was not telling people how to play.

Nope I will get it back on track cause he failed to see my point as well.

I was actually going to make a post asking if enochain was still the top rotation (I haven't played blm since I cancelled my alt account a couple months ago, but I was able to keep it going nearly 100%), whenever I am in a dungeon, and even primal ex pts blms never seem to use enochain and just go back to the normal arr f1/3 rotations. I am to the point of being surprised if I see an enochain at all and the last 2 times I have they spammed bliz4.

So if I do bring my blm back up on this char enochain is still the rotation of choice? And up to how many mobs before you revert to the f2/flare rotation of days past, cause I see that a ton on 2+ mobs still too.

I'm not sure the OP is even still reading these messages, but I'll try :

When they are unhappy about something, they usually hurt someone. here's a fact, no one is better and no one is worse, everyone is equal with me. I hate elitists who concrete pour something into a mold because it's the ''right'' way to do when in fact it just destroy. Pretty sure youre a borderline elitist too.
first thing first : experience on other games mean nothing. At most, only experience on MMOs has a meaning.

Second, every MMO is different, with different mechanics. And there are exceptions everywhere. FFxiv has such an exception : the black mage. While mages on most games and MMOs have to watch their MPs, FFxiv's BLM is totally different as it has unlimited MP ressources. Saving your MP pool is detrimental to your job as a dps. Your experience with mages on other MMOs doesn't mean crap when it comes to playing the BLM right.

Third, and probably the most important point : FFxiv is lacking a lot in diversity for the sake of balance. That means there is really only one way to play any and every job, especially when it comes to the dps roles. You have to constantly do X thing or keep Y debuff, etc... and if you don't, then you're doing it wrong. Not because people don't like your playstyle (like in talent tree MMOs) but because you fail at the unique playstyle forced upon you by the game.
So yeah, when you suck at it, and do not want to remain a bad player ad vitam eternam, you kinda HAVE to listen to more experienced players. Because they played this game longer than you did and mastered the mechanics better than you.

You don't really know SE, do you ? I can't think of any job which doesn't have a playstyle set in stone. Because it's simplier for SE to balance everything if there is only one way to play. Also because Yoshida doesn't like talent trees or the likes because "people would play mostly the most optimal anyway". Direct quote from here :

    Customizing characters besides just appearance?

We got several posts from players who wanted to be able to customize not only their character's appearance but also their skills and equipment for a particular job so that they could show some more individuality. This is a topic we've seen come up since the initial release of A Realm Reborn.

Yoshida: Right. So, if we did something like add mode A and mode B for dragoon, eventually people on the internet would examine them and choose which one was stronger. Then, when we created new content, the content would have to be based on whatever was strongest. There would be a lot of discussion about the job states like "that job is too strong" or "that job is too weak" and people would always choose what they felt was best. That's not to say a skill system like that would be negative, but the armoury system itself already allows you to play all of the different jobs. Since we already have that system in place, I'm not expecting that we'll make branches for jobs for the time being.

The flow of the game is to keep collecting higher performance equipment and challenging more difficult content, so of course you'll certainly want to figure out what works best. Some people only play their favorite jobs and in the end wind up playing whichever they feel is the most efficient.

Yoshida: We're working to get rid of those differences, but I wonder if it would be better to add a new job to make more people happy.

No doubt. I think FFXIV is the kind of game where you work to be most efficient. Do you think adding some more individualization will play any role in the game?

Yoshida: That's like a console game or MMORPG based on a skill system. With a leveling system, all the jobs need to develop side by side so it would be correct to say we won't be adopting a system like that in FFXIV.

Fine, I can understand that some players love to play it like that, but get it in your skull that there's more than one playstyle!

Giving advice is OK, but telling the other exactly what he should do, how he should do and how to play is called ruining the fun. If you are one of those with the overly inflated ego, please, just stop believing your way is always good. There's more than one good way to play, each player has it's own.
Yes, you're right, they were being dicks. But for good reason. They, just like you, are paying a sub for this game. Maybe you like wasting time with terrible "playstyles", but most people don't.

The reason why you are getting kicked so often is because a thaumathurge /blm's MAIN JOB is to dish out tons and tons of dmg. By alternating fire/ice you are basically doing about 20% of the dmg output you COULD be doing. This is why people are annoyed with you in dungeons and turn in to dickheads and kick you.

You say your main is whm? Imagine you meet a WHM in the DF that heals ONLY by spamming regen. And then that WHM says: "Srry, curing is not my playstyle!". This is you.

Imagine a tank that pulls 3 mobs, and then ONLY attacks 1 of them, resulting in the healer drawing aggro. And then the tank says: "Srry, this is my playstyle!" This is you.

Imagine a bard that ONLY spams heavy shot, never singing or using dots or aoe's. And then the bard says: "Srry, this is my playstyle!" This is you.

Yeah sure, EVENTUALLY these "playstyles" will get the job done, but that doesnt mean they were any good, I mean, my 5 year old sister could prolly finish a low lvl dungeon succesfully by spamming 1 button....

Imagine you trying to explain to them they should use cure to heal, use flash to aoe taunt, and use dots to increase dmg output, but all you got was a stubborn response like "Srry, this is my playstyle!", would you remain happy as you were? Or would you become annoyed and pissed off about the fact that you're paying a sub for a game and this person is holding you inside this dungeon much much much longer than it should normally take. Would you start considering kicking this person so that you may get a decent tank/heal/dps? I think yes.

Do you understand now why people become massive dickheads in your company? I'm preeeeeetty sure they weren't like that before they entered the dungeon.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and stop pissing people off in dungeons with your terrible, suboptimal, cringeworthy "playstyle", and ATLEAST read your tooltips. Perhaps reading a small guide would make things clearer. But PLEASE do not expect to be carried on everyone's back. You WILL be kicked with "rotations" like that.

The issue with transpose is, once you have F3, B3, and enough MP it's useless. If you manage your MP right you can keep going from Astral 3 to Umbral 3 just shy of running out of MP. I only touch transpose now if the fight ends while I still have astral up and need MP back.
