Red scrip Gear discussion?

I'd say at the moment the problem is along the lines of

currently the generic chimerical felt set and hallowed chestnut accessories melded out with just the red scrip or favor weapon/offhand is more than enough to make literally everything with ease.

so with that your just making the specialized sets for future-proofing or glamour.
but then the question becomes "will they keep making the specialized sets easier and easier to get or add in a new better generic set by the time high stats are needed?"

it's just a bad spot, but the red scrip and favor weapons are very nice at the moment. It's just a matter of if you want to spend a lot of scrip per piece or very little scrip and then some money to materia them out

In 2.0 the artisan sets came out in i think 2.5 if i remember correctly.... thats pretty much the end of the expansion lol. We will get a better idea what is needed if 3 star comes out in 3.2.

I would imagine these lvl 170/180 sets are for the whole expansion and maybe right at the end they will make an easier set.

I just recently started going after red scrips and it's about as tedious and unfun as I imagined it would be. A new main hand every 3 weeks? Ugh.

I was under the impression that red script was designed as a casual alternative.
You sacrifice uber stats for not having to deal with favor system and dumping millions of your hard earned gil into the materia RNG slotmachine.

Considering the ease of getting it (like Esoterics it is mainly gated by subscription time not player effort) it makes sense for it to be inferior to the top end crafting stuff.

Unless you meld ilvl 170, is better the ilvl 180, and you would need to meld all the 8 sets. You aren't sacrificing uber stats for not having to deal with favors. You are sacrificing being able to gear all your crafters for not having to deal with favors.

You are not making much sense here.

Melded ilvl 170 > ilvl 180.
You sacrifice stats in order to not having to deal with melds while getting enough to craft current 2*.

"Gearing all crafters" is not sacrificed. HQ170s don't fall from the sky and melding each set is prohibitively expensive.

Prolly going to get mainhand and body piece redscrip gear and use melded chimerical for now, save money and maybe craft some 170 stuff when able. Can't justify getting any of the other redscrip gear.
