Quest: Head of the class (LTW 36)

Steps:
1) Begin the class quest "Head of the class" and get to the point where you speak to Maddeline. The last entry in the journal begins: "Maddeline has suggested..."

2) A "!" is still above Maddeline, and talking to her causes the game to freeze, although the chat window still functions.

I have not attempted to create the toadskin jackets as the journal suggests because I am unclear as to whether I make them like normal items, or whether I am supposed to use the "Requested Items" option (which gives the error: "You do not meet the required conditions", despite the fact that I have the materials). I don't want to do it incorrectly and have to make the jackets all over again, so please advise.
