I can understand actually why they didn't add it in frontlines. Seems kinda pointless to me. Just by being a smn you could probably average upwards of double digit assists because of ur dots being on players when they are finally killed by someone else. I hate assists myself cause it only serves to remind me of ppl I attacked but let them get away from me alive lol.

In this case, though, "assists" does not mean what we would traditionally think it means. It sounds like SE is taking "assists" to mean actually assisting your party, rather than just a concession for not scoring the final hit.

They mentioned that there would be a lot of ways to earn assists besides helping to kill a player. In fact, dealing damage was the only thing the did not mention. They only specified "healing, buffs, and other actions." "Other actions," to me, sounds like objectives. In FEAST, for example, you might score an assist by picking up the medals of a player someone else on your team killed (thereby sparing them the "heavy medal" debuff).

I see. Too much CoD in my head I guess. I didnt really consider it being anything else since I missed the actual live letter. Not a bad idea to institute then.

I completely understand, because I also thought the exact same thing when I first read it and saw the screenshot. Almost every competitive PvP game has trained us to think of Assists in one way and one way only, so I was surprised (and pretty pleased) to see SE expanding the definition. That said, they haven't released a full definition for what will constitute an assist, so we'll have to wait and see what other things count and what things don't.

I revised my original post of this thread to include the quotations from the notes of the live letter. Pretty much everything is covered there now. If you want to take a look, check for the "**EDIT" signs. They cover all the live letter stuff.

Has anything even been said about queue times? They have to be seeing all the complaints... I hope they're not just ignoring it and will do something about it. It's such a pain to only get to play a few frontline matches a night right now.

While I am excited for feast and enjoy the arena type play style more, I would like to still be able to play frontlines whenever. Something has to be done to help this.

EDIT: I haven't seen any official forum posts saying anything about recognizing the queue times and/or doing anything to work toward fixing them.

You would be correct. As of yet, SE has made no announcements about trying to resolve the issue of Q times. To be perfectly honest, I think they're waiting it out.

Most likely, SE won't be implementing any changes to the FL game modes during the first Season period of Feast. They probably don't want to create any competition between the game modes and will want as many people playing Feast as possible. They also are (probably) expecting the problem to simply go away for a short time while people get wrapped up in the new mode. Given that most PvP'ers are expected to play feast for a good long while after it's release (especially anyone aiming for Diamond Rank), they are (probably) banking on the Q times issue of FL to get discretely swept under the rug.

That said, FL and Feast are not the same kinds of game modes, and people will, most certainly, still want to play Seize. I fully expect the Q issue to continue (and actually get worse). SE will have to do something about it in the future.

If I were to speculate on it, I would say that by the second season of Feast, SE will have to increase the level cap of Secure and Slaughter to 60 and include them in the roulette. That will help a little. The ideal situation is for SE to cast off their stupid GC lore as well, but they have been exceptionally stubborn on that topic. Again, I don't expect any changes to happen when Feast is released though. They'll want to focus on making sure that it is successful and works (expect maintenance patches to follow), before they do anything for the old ones.

WAR,AST,DRG and MCH/SMN will be mostlikely got-to setup atleast in beginning, PLD and MNK/NIN could also have place in there when majority learns how to counter that burst comp. Also did they mention anything about arena layout? does Feast use same map as WD uses? because this also affects roster building(terrain advantage/disadvantage for certain jobs).

They didn't, but the screenshots I saw made it look different to the original Wolves' Den, that was a closed arena IIRC, where as you could see the sea in the screenshots. Perhaps even looked like there were several platforms.

Looking at it, we've got a platform with a blue floor, and one with a red, then one with no colour, so I'd imagine we've either got something akin to your Serpent/Flames/Maelstrom Outposts in Frontlines, or those are where we spawn. Seem a bit big for spawn areas though.

Looking at it, it all seems quite open, not seeing many walls to break LoS with...

Yeah this is the reason why i asked about this, original was fine as it had pillars and walls for LoS but this seems way too open. MCH and other ranged classes will love this tho...

The supply boxes make me the most uneasy, especially being available right from the beginning.
