Bad attitude from experienced players while on dungeon

As a new player, you often get paired with experienced players (level sync).
Sometimes, they have a very bad attitude because you are new and don't perform well.

This becomes worse after you hit level 50, the poetics badges thing, and more lv60 players paired with you.

I just reported a player today who just said to me "Fuck you" and left the dungeon after i asked why they don't respect the new players, we were on Halatiti (Hard), on the final boss, i was watching the cutscene because its my first time, and they pulled the boss, the gates got closed and i ended up watching them fight and get their +50 poetics bonus.

So their experience was: +50 poetics bonus.
My experience: Get a "fuck you" reply from one of them and unable to even fight the final boss.

Can't we adress this issue? for example don't let them pull while on cutscene, or a better reporting system.

Wow....that is pretty crappy way to respond. Sorry that happened to you, Hiromi. Players like that are a a plague in this game. Being a high leveled player I'd never do anything like that. (;¬_¬) Since we were new at on point or another. So, there is no excuse for being a grad A d-bag like that player did. Having a better reporting system sounds like a great plan to me.

Thanks to Gm Tymriss, was very kind and nice about the problem.

Let's hope this scalates to the producers and they find a fix for the cutscene thing.

It's been a major issue ever since the game launched and they haven't fixed it yet.

A can't-pull-while-in-cutscene rule would need some way of overcoming the problem of people staying permanently in cutscene by just not advancing the dialog.

Maybe SE could do more to at least encourage helpful play, though. For instance, the bonus tomes that come with having a new player in the group could be added only if everyone gets to take part and nobody gets locked out of anything. It wouldn't actually prevent excluding them, but at least it would be a clear statement from SE that you're not supposed to be excluding them from the run. Maybe if that rule were added in combination with boosting the amount of that new player bonus, even speedrunners would see a tomes per hour advantage in letting everyone play.

Thanks EA9Sol, this is not an isolated case... its becoming more and more frequent.
I think this is just "cause and effect" about the need of Level sync features and the anxiety some players have for farming rewards like poetics badges, so it would be nice to make sure they look for some solutions.

I don't think they will change things to stop people pulling the boss while the cutscene is active unfortunately as I suspect it might not be very simple to implement and would be very unpopular among a lot of players sadly. As for the player, reporting was the right thing to do. Regardless of the reason there is no justification for not being civil to other players, particularly new players and particularly when veterans get the bonus.

Sadly these types will inevitably pop up in any community and an online one is no different. The best solution is to report so the rules can be enforced and so the threat of repercussions can either keep people from acting that way or make them move on. Nothing slows down progression on a character like a 3 day ban.

Sorry for the bad experience HiromiVenia

I think the issue is that high level people like myself (well I'm more considerate than most it seems) more are more considered with getting tomes for the current relic quest then helping (or giving friendly experience) out new players

it does seem like a lot of new players are getting put in to parties that just want to get there tomes and get out in short amount of time as possible (aka speed running)

the issue is that some of the cut scene are quite long and the general attitude of the high level community is to force you to watch them in the inn (kinda spoils the dungeon doing that)

Another newbie here, was just running Qarn as a dps for the story quest. I remember a guildie telling me it was usually best to use the Limit Break as melee dps, so I did. At the second boss I used it on the Soul Heart thing of the golem, and two people responding with "-.-' " smiley and a comment "why lb OO". I just said it was just my second time there, but right after the fight I got kicked from the group.
I did hope a game with subscriptions would have less of those people... But this kinda hurt. Especially after getting into Ultima's Bane with a really nice group, even though we failed.

I kinda understand the cutscene problem. Guildies warned me about getting behind if I didn't skip them, so I decided to watch everything back at the inn. I've played other MMOs enough to know that running the same dungeons over and over is really tiring. Though it is a shame I couldn't have the full experience. It just feels more like a game flaw rather than the people.

You're going to run in to this in any MMO you play. That's just how the internet works. The anonymity of a computer screen brings out the worst in people. We're actually very lucky in FFXIV. The community is a lot better than most. That's partially due to the over-the-top limitations built in by the devs. They chopped out many features to prevent any form of griefing or harassment and put massive restrictions on others.

As you're new to the game (welcome, BTW) you probably haven't noticed it yet, but we are pretty severely limited in a lot of aspects so as to prevent anyone getting upset by anything another player can do. Its nice at first, but as you watch restriction after restriction get put into place, it sort of makes you resentful.

I'm sorry you had that experience, but asking for further limitations really only adds to that resentment. I'd recommend finding a good FC and running things with them.

I understand that, but there's always room for improvement. For example, i find the report system too "sluggish".
1- Most players won't care to report the player even if they felt outraged.
2- GM's will waste resources and i think they won't care to deliver justice if you don't deliver enough data about what happened there.

We have a feature called, Commendation. Commendation should be given to the most helpful, greatest contributing or most valuable player in the party. How about an easy way of report bad attitude like this one? so they can investigate bad attitude trends and try to educate these players in the best way.

I don't find justifiable to have a poor community just because others MMO's have it.
Sure ffxiv is better than other mmo's, at least better than the f2p ones, because you cut out a lot of inmature players.
