Retainers/inventory space

Ah, I see. Makes more sense. The thing is, I think most people on this thread are in agreement with you to an extent. Most of us are trying to avoid paying for retainers (see my method of how I'm doing it above if you haven't already) and though some of us may understand why SE's charging for what is essentially server space, it's safe to say it's apparent to us all that the minimal amount of inventory (retainers and all) that we're supplied "naturally" is not sufficient to actually play the game (let alone craft). It feels like a scam, it's probably a scam, and as much as we want SE to make profit to make better content/games (plus feed their families), we don't want to be ripped off in the process.

Personally (and I can't believe I'm saying this...), I don't mind them charging for extra retainers - as long as it's extra retainers. Just two retainers, with as many mats, glamours, and Jobs (read: gear-sets) as there are in this game? That's obviously not enough. So, yes, I agree...it's almost assuredly intentional to force us into paying extra.

Just one more free retainer...I think it'd be feasible for them to give us that. I do not intend to ever pay for an additional retainer, (sorry SE, not gonna happen) and I hope people put enough pressure on SE to help us out in this. I'm glad FFXIV is a success, I intend to play for a long time to come, but...this is one of the things that has to change.

Another way to not get what we want is by letting them know how well we can make 2 retainers work. It almost seems like you're trying to politely tell me I'm wrong by telling me we don't need more retainers because of how well YOU can manage without them. The tactic of "pressure with your wallet" isn't going to work because NOBODY or at least not nearly enough people are going to even try. Why even bother to try and convince people of that? It's so much easier to say "Hey, you're right, SE give us some retainers!" instead of "Well I manage pretty well without them, I only have 2 retainers and 10 level 60's and this is how I manage-." I would rather say, "look at my bill! this is outrageous!" 1. because it's a fact that I am paying for it 2. because it is outrageous. Now give us some more retainers!!! Please!!

Honestly before heavensward I traded my friends all my extra mats that I won't use yet and put it in my 2nd characters retainer or inventory.

I know someone that bought a 2nd account.

I used one retainer for glamor and one for mats. Now their both glamor and gear. Sold all my mats.
Stuffed my armoire with what I could and now I have some good space.

Expaneions are the biggest source of new items, and we need somewhere to put it all. Make this a feature and people can at least get by on space.

Also, this all needs to happen. I know people are going to go "but the server space!", but that's why he said intangible...saves on actual memory space usage.

Though I agree with you that Sho86 saying "2 retainers works" is not only not true but counterproductive, his point in stating that it's not likely they'll change anything in regards to this because people are paying for the retainers is sadly accurate. Now, if SE proves me - us - wrong, that would be awesome. I would love for them to acknowledge that there's an issue here and help us out without us having to boycott the current pay-to-store system that's being used. I guess we'll have to wait to find out, because YOUR point in stating the fact that getting people to change and stop paying isn't going to happen is also, sadly, accurate.

Yes, I agree. I figure it's easier to get someone to start something than to stop something, in this case, by dropping a line to let SE know that you, as a player would like to see extra retainers in the game for free. They've been collecting money long enough to have a leg to stand on and we should have at least one or two by now.

This game doesnt need more inventory/storage space, it has plenty. What it needs is clever systems that unclutter available storage and make item management not a logistical nightmare.

-Glamour Database - This way you can dump all those useless items you keep just for future glamour purposes.
-Crafting Database - Make all crafting mats go to a seperate tab, much like the crystals go. This alone will solve all storage problems.
-Utilize Key Items More - Like maybe put there stuff needed for quests, it baffles me the anima weapon items are treated like normal items, or that upgrade item you get from Void Ark etc.
-Sell All Junk System - Make it possible to designate any item you want as junk and have it sell all automatically when you go to a vendor. For example Bat Wings, Animal Bones etc.

These i made up in about 5 minutes, im sure Square-Enix can solve this issue if they want to, but maybe they dont want to lose profits from retainers. In any case, they need to fix this sooner than later or real problems will start appearing come 4.0.

Just adding my support to the call for an extra retainer, ideally starting now and continuing with one extra every expansion.
Alternatively, I'd like them to overhaul storage completely and put a new system in place for things like currencies, glamour and mats.
I don't pay for extra at the moment because I feel my sub should cover the basics but it's a struggle.

It's bascially asking for the same thing though, just a different system, this is actually asking for even more than what I'm asking for.. Buut they probably should have went down this path a long time ago, I like your ideas.
