You're not pressuring them if you continue to pay. Pressure with your wallet.
I wish I could take your advice, but the game is designed so that I can't craft and collect seriously without paying extra. For example I want to hold onto any gear I think would be useful for glamours. Because of space issues I've limited myself to keeping gear for just two jobs. Even still, one entire retainer is being used just to hold onto gear for only those two classes and more gear is added with every patch.
It's very difficult to go without paying for extra retainers unless I were to give up crafting or throw out parts of my gear collection, which would be a pain to recollect if I ever needed them.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
Not sure if this is some kinda troll thread or what, as the answer is pretty easy to come up with.
That right there is the only way they'll listen. Also, playing devil's advocate here, you -can- play with the retainers they've given you; its just sometimes frustrating as hell. However I've done it since ARR started, not once got an extra retainer and still held onto main glamours that I favor, mats for my most profitable crafts, and storing only the exclusive/expensive housing items when not in use. The rest either gets tossed/sold and remade later if needed. Again this is a huge pain, ofc I don't like going through it, but I'm not spending money on something that should be easy for them to fix. If everyone did this, while using these threads, I'm sure SE would eventually come around; but its clear why they are not even touching it right now.
I'm still at a loss for why people need so many retainers and inventory space.
I have 3 myself, but I don't even touch the storage for one of them and I'm a full time crafter and glamour enthusiast. Why in the world would anyone need 6+ retainers?

Foxy Areku, Lets say you're telling the truth... and you had 5-6 glamour sets for your main... about about another 8 for all your other classes (including all the event glamours) PLUS your main gear sets. That's Head, body, hands, and feet mostly for glams, sometimes the legs too and then your belt for your main gear sets. Then you have all your acc's and allllll your ingredients. There are well over 100 recipes in this game with each recipe requiring 2-8 different ingredients and we're talking about 8 different crafting classes here. Now lets say you want to be able to craft something on the whim so you store most your mats for later so you don't have to go out and gather HQ mats for hours, every single time you want to craft.
So, you now have something like 2-3 retainers just full of gear seats and glamours, and another 3 full of crafting materials and other game items like materia, dyes, housing items etc...
It's a real problem, it's easy to jump on someone elses post to tell them their wrong and we don't need this extra stuff in the game, in fact most people love to do that on other peoples posts because they some how think it makes them feel smarter or better... I'm probbably sounding mad, I assure you I'm not, I just see this kind of stuff all the time on peoples posts where somebody is asking for something we legit need, only for some person to come and try to ruin it by talking about how well THEY do without it. The community keeping each other down is no way to progress. That is also a real problem.
A better request to the developers would be for the creation of a 'glamour' catalog -- where armors you'd like to use for glamour in the future can be registered. You'd obtain the armor, register it in the catalog and then could safely remove it from your inventory, unless you actually needed the armor for stats.
Yep, several other games (even those much older than FF14) have fully implemented cosmetic systems that are done in such a way that there is still room for monetization. I would love to see FF14 have one of them too.A better request to the developers would be for the creation of a 'glamour' catalog -- where armors you'd like to use for glamour in the future can be registered. 2/ "this game is already sooo generous with inventory room"
3/ PS3 limitations.
Pick one. Or three.
