Removing Ranks for newer gear.

You know, I wish people played pvp because it was fun. However if all you people say ranks are the only reason you played (aka: to show off and have an advantage over other players in some way.) then why are you pvping?

Players are playing for fun. But for fun players will not play extra hours per day - for that players need extra effort and for the extra effort they need extra reward. Reward and achieving your goals is much more fun then just playing for the sake of playing...
