    Secondary Stats on DRK

Since I started playing (Which is about since August) I've mained WAR. Stat distribution on them is a bit more streamlined as there's a minimum SkS to hit for triple cleave+fracture and the rest of your points should be in crit. I've recently joined a static and due to there being 2 WARs I offered to go DRK. The one thing I'm noticing is on longer fights my TP is getting absolutely demolished. Aside from the obvious "have your BRD/NIN help you out" I was wondering if there was maybe a different route to go than crit/SkS? Is determination a better secondary to invest in? If a DRK main responds it would also be nice to know what your exact numbers are. Thank you!

Actually as the only DRK main to have posted so far, I'd say (unironically) Parry is better than piety and spell speed. At least it gives you procs. But oh wait its parry so... queue the unfunny jokes!

OP, during progression, you'll be stuck with Parry on your gear quite a bit due to lack of options. DRK benefits from parry more than the other two tanks (although its still not a good stat) as it at least sees some DPS returns on it and has a cooldown that scales with it. So no. Do not stack piety or spellspeed to avoid getting parry on your gear.

When you overgear stuff considerably, then you can do goofy crap like wearing Void Ark gear to avoid that one piece with Parry on it (sacrificing VIT/STR/DEF/MDEF in the process...) to get an extra 2DPS.

As for DPS secondaries, there are some burst feats you can pull off with more investment in SS than Det. Det is kind of a crap stat now. Crit is definitely top, and with enough SS you can get off extra DA Souleaters even outside of Blood Weapon and not lose Scourge (or Delirium if you time it right). TP is not a worry in the vast majority of fights as there is far too much downtime in content right now. I'm actually curious what fights your TP is getting demolished on as the only one I can think of is A4.

It is kinda annoying that the 10% debuff is tied to parry procing reprisal.

It's not *exactly* crit>det, but based on available gear this does work. The thing is you do need to balance the two for maximum effect. If you somehow managed to pull all crit and 0 det, you would do a lot worse than someone with the two moderately balanced. Still, within actual gear available, there's plenty of gear with both or det and no crit to keep them both up high enough to say crit is generally more important.

Thank you for a legitimate post. I knew parry wasn't that terrible for DRK which is why I haven't replied yet. But yeah, it's mainly in MTing A4. I get close to bottoming out on TP if I MT A1 which is why I was afraid to pile on anymore SkS but if it isn't a problem for others that makes me feel better about it.

Parry is still terrible for DRK and is a terrible stat overall. Reprisal and Low Blow are such a miniscule part of your DPS that it does not matter, you can reliably proc Reprisal ON COOLDOWN even without any parry gear because of dark dance and your base parry. Low blow is only 5 seconds longer than Brutal Swing for the same potency, so again, not a huge deal.

If you stack parry to increase your DPS because of procs, you'd still being getting less returns per point than if you went with crit or det. Yeah, you'd be getting slightly less low bow procs if you went that route, but your low blows would still be doing more damage (And it's still like....3% - 4% of your DPS is from Low Blow procs?)

But at the end of the day, secondary stats barely matter outside of reaching accuracy cap and certain thresholds (with spell speed or skill speed). If you can avoid parry or something and you feel like it, then do it. If not, not a huge fuckin' deal.

This is more or less about the SkS cap. I'm sure there's a certain amount you need to pull off certain moves in a certain time frame, I'm just not sure what the goal is. On WAR I can pull off triple cleave fracture with 600 SkS but at least for that I have a benchmark of testing myself because if I don't make it I get pacified.
