Thirty years IS a bit much. Ala Mhigo was conquered in 1557 6AE, 5 years later is the Battle of Silvertear Skies and the subsequent fast abandonment of Eorzean Sharlayan (1562 6AE). The original game (1.0) took place 15 years after Ala Mhigo's conquering in 1572 6AE. A Realm Reborn takes 5 years after that in what would-be 1577 or 1577 6AE. Heavensward is supposedly months (iirc) after ARR.

So yeah, fifteen years is right, and given Kan-E-Senna aging Solus zos Galvus based on the number of winters he's seen I'm doubtful they have an alien seasonal cycle (though it wouldn't be unusual otherwise given the duality of astral/umbral moons).

For reference, one one would wager if there are 2 summers a year, there are 2 winters as well--but that'd make Solus a rather young 40-something. We'd have some sort of winter-spring-summer-fall-summer-spring cycle or something to make two summers a year to one winter fit.

Maybe some of the Sharlayans were abusive towards their familiars? would exlain why they would be mad for 15 years prior to the 15-year-ago exodus.

A quick double checking FATE Text in JP, DE, and FR show that the "thirty summers" error is likely a localization mistake. Neither French nor German mention the specific number of years and as far as I can tell the Japanese is again decidedly succinct and bare bones.

Assuming it's not a mistake, it very well be possible that Poroggo became a trend in Sharlayan Colony 30 years ago and some (or most) could have been abused. One Poroggo was frightened that Matoya would take his/her sentience away if s/he messes ups. While we know that Matoya won't do that, it's always a possiblity for other masters.

Being left to fend for themselves probably doesn't help make them feel better either. Up until recently, the Hinterlands were deserted, but now that Goblins and Adventurers are there I can see them taking out their rage on them.

I really wonder why they didn't bother to take care of the entire city-state after the exodus. It might've been funny to see the Poroggos living there.

Because the "Sharlayan" we can access is not actually Sharlayan, but a colony they started when they went to Eorzea. The actual City-state is outside Eorzea in "The Old World"

Of course Given the AST Quest's antagonist's opinion on Eorzea (and how they are in control of the Forum) I suspect that once Garlemald mad its plans known, most of the Colony immediately declared Eorzea inherently worthless because anything of value would had been razed or stolen by the Empire (or the Calamity, but its unlikely that they didn't know of that until it happened) and abandoned everything, probably hoping that the Garleans would destroy their experiments...

At least they didn't offer the colony and their resources to Garlemald, the Empire is troublesome enough with just Ala Mhigo as their only sphere of influence within Eorzea (and before you ask, Selling land to other countries is a thing)

That I know but this Sharlayan colonly in the Hinterlands was known to be one of the leading city-states of Eorzea during its prosperous time.

I meant why didn't the Poroggo took care of the place while the Sharlayans were away, rather. It's kind of sad seeing the place get thrown away like that, but I suppose Goblins, adventurers and other creepy critters now reside there.
