Is Ravana now FF canon ?

Characters from different games with the same name have been different entities with the exception of a few like GREG and in some cases Omega and Shinryu.

They had said Ravana was an original summon monster for XIV so he is his own thing.

Not true actually, the The Fabula Nova Crystallis is just a set of guidelines for the game to follow for their background lore. The universes are in no way connected.

Yeah, I worded that wrong. I know it was a set of guidelines. What I did not know is that it was scrapped for FFXV, in fact I believed that FNC was taken more seriously by Square devs.

Connection =/= (Literal) Cross-Over
Multiverse exists, thus, people crossing over from different realities (for events' sake).

FFXIV is its own universe, as it is for every other FF game.

Well...that's only half true.

The Fabula Nova Crystallis is technically a single universe (or multiverse). Games like FFXIII, FFXV and even Bravely Default are part of it.

What? How is Bravely Default a part of that series? It's not even a Final Fantasy title but a spin-off.

The similarities you may see between vagrant story and ffxiv Ravanas would be because they are both based on the "real" Ravana
Even his personality of not seeing mortals as a threat allowing them to defeat him is borrowed from original Ravana mythology
