Suggestion and method for limiting of RMT related activity and spam

A method I have for consideration to combat RMT spam entirely:
Instead of deleting RMT, you mute spammers so it appears to their client that they are actively sending out spam messages when in fact they only display to the client that is sending them. They continue to spam for hours and days without actually sending any messages. Allow this feature to function by perhaps 3 separate clients using a "report spam" function when receiving a spam message.

Another idea is to create and enable a function that allows you to block whisper messages by users of unverified accounts(which can be defined at a later time) people not in your linkshell(s), and people not in your free company.

    Thank you for your consideration,
a 20 year Final Fantasy fan.

aka Hellban. A nice idea, but the problem with any "report spam" feature is that it's very easy to abuse, causing more problems than it solves.

However, I am in support of something like a "partial Busy status", which lets you set who can and can't contact you for a while (FC, friends, linkshells, anyone)

I would like to see another option added to the list that appears when you right click a player name (not sure how PS3/4 users do it.) We currently have Add To Blacklist, which is great. An option of Report RMT would be nice. It would probably need to flag the account rather than the player name, because these spammers delete them and make new ones. Eventually you could have the accounts banned.

I'm against auto-muting people, because like stated above, people could abuse it and mute innocent people.

    Report RMT

Part of the Report PMT would include an automatic read of the reported Chat Message. If it is the same message sent 3 times or more, and includes _Gil = _USD, or any other form used by RMT to sell Gil, and a website in the message, then it will disable all chat functions for 15 minutes. On a second report of RMT spam, it will disable chat functions for a half hour. On third report, it will flag the account for a six hour ban from playing. A forth report will flag for a 24 hour ban while the account is reviewed for permanent ban. All chat logs reported will be saved as part of the report to verify that is RMT.
To help prevent abuse, any player(s) found to be report RMT spam when it is not will be banned from playing for 90 days. After a third time, it will be a permanent ban.
The current chat filters can be used to "capture" words commonly used by RMTs to assist in quickly banning RMT accounts.

Again, any kind of report RMT type thing in the game can/would be misused. They keep doing what they need to to get around whatever anti-RMT stuff is implemented in games, and a lot of what I've read online is many of the accounts RMTs get are people who lost their accounts due to RMT websites managing to get their username/password to log into XIV by installing something on their 'totally legit *cough* websites'. Issues will only fix RMT spam for a certain amount of time before they find a way around it.

I agree. I am a new player with previous experiences in MMO's. I also brought some friends into the game and send Tells has become a freaking chore. I get spammed to much that it be comes a real problem to direct tells to whoever I am trying to send them to. It makes me want to keep my chat window closed. it would be nice to have a friends only chat, that i could invite friends too and just disable Tells. Alternatively a whitelist feature would be great. Really anything to decrease the spam would be great. It's completely ruining my experience.
