What does an AST do in Seize

Hello I made this thread to ask what does a good AST to during PvP. All I know about AST in PvP is that Noct seems to increase endurance when kiting, bit I still don;t now how to survive aganst more than 1 or two enemies. Is VIT gear a factor? boosted Attumement? Are the people kiting with AST helping with wins or are they hindering more than helping?

Firstly: Do not try and kite people if you do not know what you are doing. I've seen many ASTs and SCHs try to do this only to fail so hard. It can help, due to you taking all the damage while your team swoop in a kill unsuspecting healers while the DPS are all oblivious but other than that, there's no real need for it other than making the other team angry they can't kill you.

Do not spam Aspect. Benefic! I see many people think this is healing when it's not, they will run out of MP the first minute into battle. Make yourself unknown, stand far back allowing yourself to hardcast Benefics. If you get targeted, you have Surecast, Blizzard 2, Equanimity, Lightspeed, Celestial Opposition and Attunement

Playing ast is no different than whm/sch, as dark has said stand back stay invisible and drop dem heals.

Don't blow your instant heals unnecessary, be vigilant on who is attacking who. Rebuff when ever you have down time, make sure smns/schs have protect on at all times (prevents mnks/smns stealing their aetherstacks)

What your saying here is about being an agressive healer.

Being an aggressive healer is not just for asts, schs and whm can also do this. Ast just has an easier time, the only way to get better is practice. Load up on vit accs at least 3 to give you more breathing space, the more you get used to it startong switching mnd accs back in till you find your comfortable hp/healing level.

An agressive healer can be a very valuable asset to a team but only if its played right drawing enemy fire away from your party whilst keeping themselves and everyone else around them vertical.

Having a decent co healer also helps tenfold, there will be times Inc dmg will just be too much to handle.

Gp all vit accessories + 35 vit spec + some cheap food, become tank

Use sprint a lot, keep only bole, lightspeed + benefic2 when low, essential dignity to counter melee LB. Swift + blizzard 2 around corners for bind. Attunement can be used to counter holmgang if you want to save purify (manually cancel the buff a few seconds before its ends - sometimes people time their LB expecting your buff to run out at 0) - do not use if theres a whole party or more chasing or you die instantly when it wears off

Just keep running with aspected non stop to tank people. Use terrain. Can tank about 2-4 organised players, or 8 randoms...

As for skill spec, max purify + focalization + mana draw. Rest optional.

This means they are good for defending tomeliths and baiting. AST lacks crowd control skills unlike whm - if you had one then you could take a tomelith from a solo defender and they cannot get it back until their team withdraws from the fight and come back for it. You can try blizzard 2 -> tomelith, but it probably won't work. If you got a friend to help out then you can sneak some tomeliths for a bit

For baiting, you can either bait enemy teams together or a few chasers into your own team. You can also kite 4 people indefinitely around some rocks in the western part of the map to remove yourself and 4 people from the game until they give up or something.

    theres this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...g-in-Seal-Rock

Or you can be boring like the other healers and just heal. (when theres no other healers...)
Better off playing whm for that

The only kitable people are the trash players who wouldnt have killed anyone anyway or do above 50k damage by the end of the fight. A.k.a. 85% of seal rock players. Non-contributors.
