Sum Faust Pet & Food ?

Apologies for the nooby (noobie) questions but I have 2 hopefully easy ones:
1. Ifrit or Gar for Faust - and why? Is Gar Cont better than Ifrit Dps? I don't have parse and can't quite tell myself and want to optimize best I can.
2. Is there a clear cut SUM food assuming no accuracy issues? See mixed results on this, would love some feedback (get it, ok that was bad). Gil is not an issue, can make or buy whatever is considered best.

Summoners in my groups always use Ifrit on Faust because you're single-targeting Faust and ignoring his adds. Also, my casters have had a pretty varied discussion on food (Sohm Al Tarts come up a lot) but if you want Crit and Acc go for the Baked Pipira Pira.

Lol both of those foods are what I switch back and forth with so I guess I'm not far off with that, but I was using Gar so will switch asap. Thanks

Ifrit is pro on single target enemies, while Garuda excels with long range and multiple enemies. Garuda has a skill called contagion (correct me if i am wrong) which adds like 15 more seconds to all dots on an enemy. Try using bane after that and it does wonders. For Ifrit, he can add another dot and is pretty much suited for a 11 v1 situation thus explains why its used more on Faust. Also it gives a shield like buff to near by players.

Because Faust is such a short dummy fight you should use Garuda. Contagion 'd DOTs with all those initial buffs is just too high of spike damage for Ifrit to catch up considering both pets are pretty close in damage with 3.0
