    Suggesstion: Promoting PVP and Class Identity

    In an effort to promote more PvP and have people relate and be proud of their main classes, I'd like to suggest for SE to create a 'promo' video on a new PVP mode.

    The reason for this is because people tend to associate themselves with a certain faction - gives them that identity and all. Main example would be the Horde vs Alliance (#FORTHEHORDE).

    New mode: Capture the flag
    Yes, it's Warsong. (Don't judge me - Frontlines are essentially Arathi Basin).

    What I propose:
    Create a video of the 13 classes battling against each other in an attempt to take away the flag.

    There are a few examples of doing this:
    1) Dissidia-like video of some of these classes battling against each other - free for all.
    2) Cinematic - Have a 4v4v4 (tied to their respective Grand Companies) capture the flag video. Something similar to the LoL video of one faction versus another (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzHrjOMfHPY).

    It'd be cool to focus on some prominent 1v1 fights for a couple of seconds - DRK vs WAR (enraged eyes, darkside aura and enrage aura), MNK vs NIN with emphasis on some of their signature skills or a mix.

    For the identity thing, we have the GCs, even though they don't have much "Ungh" to them its what I think the team was planning (Slaughter still sucks).

    Capture the flag was what we assumed would be Secure with a theorized name like "Capture the Crystal", disappointment after the next -_-. But if they do come out with it my fingers are crossed that they do it right. :/

    They should do alot of promos for their PvP content, it'd actually give players a chance to comment and think on the new modes and the devs can look at the reactions. What they did for pvp so far is not so great, at least let us in on it and not try so hard to surprise us. -_-

    pvp is very unbalanced right now. alot of jobs are just inferior to others in pvp. for example drk is kinda trash in pvp to be brutally honest. it is outmatched by warrior in every single way that there just is no reason to be a dark knight. the only thing drk does have is the ability to be annoying for the last 10 seconds of them dying. even pld outclasses dark knight in pvp in both suitability, utility, and with the same damage.

    same can be said with every healer that is not astro. astro is by far the most broken job in pvp right now. they simply do not die.

    i just entered a pvp roulet 4 days ago, i got secure, the 50 one. i changed to astro to see if it was even more broken in 50 content then it was 60 pvp.

    yes, it was even more absurd. i ended up spending the entire match running around a tent with 7/8 flames trying to kill me. (they never did) effectively putting them out of the entire game.

    any dps that is not smn will get stomped by smn. smn is THE dps in pvp. all other dps are inferior plain and simple. smn having pretty much the highest burst, highest aoe damage, and a pet. no other dps can really 1v1 a (good) smn unless a melee just limit breaks them or its 2v1.

    mch out class bards in pretty much every way aswell. they can hold points better and have high burst damage. but the vast majority of both bards and mch are awful because none of them use gauss barrel and like to stay at max range from thier target cutting thier damage to a fraction of what it would be with it on because of the physical ranged dps nerf at range. (the ideal range is 8 yalms just about i belive) making them easy pickings for most other jobs.


    pvp is unbalanced. very unbalanced.

    Yeah promote it more, but to the guy talking about unbalanced your wrong. The only time its unbalanced is when as bunch of people who don't know how to play their classes are playing. If your in PvP and know how to play your class well every class works good and has a place.

    il give an example. in what ways would a good lets say. whm have over a good astro. in pvp. by comparing the few things that matter to healers.

    Survivablility - astro by far is much more tanky then any other job because of its ability to spam aspected benefic with a 130% sheild with no cast time. to kill an astro your team has to blow alot more cc and be more coordinated in their attack so that they are unable to do anything. astros can also heal much better then other healers while being focused because of its instant cast aspected benefic.

    utility and ability to heal - pretty comparable but astro wins out by a little, both have stuns. astros being ogcd and whm being on with a long cast time and long animation. both have slows. where they start to branch off is whm having a pushback and bind and presence of mind. while astro has lightspeed for instant cast of all its spells, card buffs and ability to aoe sheild the party similarly to sch while at the same time being able to use a powerful aoe heal slightly stronger then medica. mp in pvp is never really a problem becuase you can recover 50% of it back with the push of a button for all magic jobs. astros in pvp have an aoe esuna that doubles as an aoe dispell that removes buffs from your enemies while also healing and damaging. basically being an aoe snap punch, esuna, dispell, heal, and attack all wrapped up into one package at a 120 sec cd fully upgraded. while whm has the aoe regen puddle that also reduces physical damage.

    when a whm is being focused all they can do is regen, which while not useless, not all that useful either. unless they pop their pvp cd to be immune to interrupts or swift cast.
    while astro can just continue spamming aspected benefic like they were which is an incredibly powerful spell. and maybe using light speed when aoe heals are needed. while still having swift cast and the pvp cd.


    also saying im wrong without giving any points as to why i am is silly. and every job does not have a place. just look at slaughter. the team with the most casters almost always won. skilled or not. because melee were at a huge disadvantage to ranged because in order to kill anyone they had to get in close. which them prime target for everyone when you separated from your group. along with the fact that going up to a node in the middle was a death sentence for melee due to all the massive amounts of aoe constantly being thrown at it. nothing else was needed and infact made you less effective then having 2 healers and 6 casters.

    the ideal comp in seize is 2 astros and the rest smn.

    I believe they are going to try balancing all classes on 3.2, before the new pvp mode comes out. Since they're trying to implement seasonal rankings and all.

    But in general, I do agree that some classes are easier to reach that level of performance with minimal effort, in a 72man setting.
