Does the server ever unlock?

Like, I've tried two days in a row, this is like the perfect time for it to unlock, all the other servers are unlocked at this time but Tonberry doesn't...

keep trying, the perfect time is definitely around this hr, GMT+7 1-5am, besure to refresh every 5 minutes, that's how I got in.

Basically had it open for the past 6 hours while I did other stuff, refreshing it every 5mins as you say. =/

Being honest. No.

Too many people are coming in, and we were the third most populous server before 3.1, which is getting worse because we're having an influx of american server players coming for multitude of reasons (some of which include "easy savage clears"). My friend managed to get 3 people on a few days ago via voodoo magic, but other than that your chances are slim.

Like YshtoraHoly said the best time to try an get into the server is early in the morning.

The best way is to just do a server transfer...right?? if you make a character you have a ton of work to do. Unless they are limiting server transfers now.

I'm not shy of the work, that's fine with me. I just don't want to server transfer my current character.

It would seem at this stage my best bet would be to hope for creating the character before/after maintenance, but I don't know if there is maintenance this week either. Ugh, the missions.

It's definitely possible.

Keep trying. I made my char around 5am +8gmt, although that was 2 years ago.
Same principle applies - create when most people are asleep.

You can try to create new character on Tonberry just before, or right after maintenance.
Next maintenance will be on Jan. 6, 2016 10:00 p.m. to Jan. 7, 2016 2:00 a.m. (PST), so yeah you can try it soon.
