    Furniture "Previews"

Decorating is another very popular attribute to MMORPGS. I have found the decorating system in FFXIV to be very inferior to other games. For example: It is impossible to view an item without purchasing or crafting it and placing it in your quarters. It should be viewable in the same way that clothing and armor is viewable. In addition, you should be able to view another's house in a "visitor instance" to gather ideas for your own house. Each item placed in a domicile should be inspectable for the item name.

You could also allow items to be stacked or spun, resized, twisted, for more creative characters to create custom pieces of work.

I look forward to seeing this improve as the artistic quality of this game is superior to the alternatives, I would love to see the content encompass this more uniformly.

There is actually a website with large previews ---> http://en.ff14housing.com/

However, I agree. There should be something on the game itself that allows for previews of furniture. It would make things a hell of a lot more easier for players who decorate their houses/rooms on a regular interval.

I find the idea of viewing an item before purchasing it great! It would really save a lot of effort and gil and make plenty of people happy im sure.

    Square Enix should consider this

Agreed , i have suggested all this long ago and many times op... i fully agree with you.

Other games like rift offer such a complex ui and the ability to do ANYTHING to an item..player creativity at its best...not to mention actually building anything you can imagine from scratch.

FFXIV lacks an unbelievable amount of housing content that others offer...they surpass our design here by leaps and bounds.

I still hope one day they will be able to handle things like you and so many have suggested.

Thats not taking away from what they have done so far or the time the artists put into creating the things we do have already!! ..just facing fact that the design is sorely sorelyyyyyyyy lacking

Fallout 4 has a nifty preview feature when building stuff. You’d click something on the list (for example: a generator) and it appears as a..well, a ghost version of the item you want. You can move it, rotate it and whatever else but if you don’t like it, you just click out of the menu and that’s it. I wish there was something similar in XIV because even on the site I linked above, you don’t really know how big things are in some of the previews.

I came from a game called Everquest. Any item linked, in your inventory, on the marketboard (broker), or any item in anyones house right clicked could be viewed by simply holding control when clicking. It could then be rotated.

For actual design, you could resize any object within certain limits, by holding control and scrolling downward and upward. You could also spin or rotate in any direction and place items onto other items.

There is a similar feature in DCUO base items aka furniture.

They should check that out as a reference, or other games ?

Because, yeah I bought a few items for my private room that looked good in the icon, but not when placed...
