Server Question!

A friend recently bought the game, but I'm on Balmung and it's pretty much impossible to make a character there most of the time. They haven't installed it yet but I would hate for them to have to wait if we want to play together.

I've also been thinking of a server transfer for a while now before this and would like to know if there's any others that are almost as lively as Balmung but would be open to new players much more often.

I've been looking around but haven't had much time to check every single one out. In the one's I have, the cities seem empty aside for a couple of others running around. The server I'm on now there's people everywhere and I love that because it makes things look more alive.

Can anyone help give me some more info on the other servers?


Also a bonus question, would my FC stay with me if I transferred? I made it and also I'm the only member at the moment.

Well I don't know much about other servers other than the one I am in which is Midgardsormr and it's pretty lively, though I know not as lively as Balmung. I think Gilgamesh is known to also have a lot of people, I may be wrong. As for the fc question, the world transfer requires you to leave the fc you are in. So yes your fc doesn't transfer with you.

Sargatanas is active, although it has died down a bit since a number of groups transferred to Balmung and Gilgamesh. I've never played on another server though, so I can't really say how it compares. An advantage to loosing some people is that the server seems much more newbie friendly now than it was back in early 2.0. Balmung is pretty unique I think, so your won't really be able to replicate that experience exactly on another server.

Jenova is pretty lively, people in most zones leveling alt jobs and a lot of new players.

Yes you will lose your FC, have to leave it before you can transfer.

I was on Balmung as well, I think I've met you before, actually haha. My FC moved to Siren, though because of the same issue (friends joining and being unable to play with us), it's been a fairly nice, welcoming server so far. Also, you will NOT be able to keep your FC, you'll have to remake it on whatever server you go to

Oh yeah, I think I remember you too!

And thanks for the input everyone, I'll check those out when I can. So far I've just been going off that list on the Lodestone that updates and tells you which are available to see how regularly any of them open up.

your friend can get in quickly if they can wait until servers are up after maintenance then have a premade character look they want and create it fast.

Oh yeah that's soon huh. I haven't given up hope yet, just exploring other options in case.

I've heard good things about Siren and Leviathan

I'm on Bryn and while I LOVE our server's community and would recommend 10/10, it's not as "active" as some of the others so if that's explicitly what you're looking for you might have better luck with one of the others.
