Hey there!

Fresh 60 SCH and I've been using macros for various combos to cut down on keybloat/general panic fatfinger issues. I've been told I am (or will soon be) a terribad for doing this. I'm not really here to debate that, since I'm willing to at least try queueing my spells manually to see if it really is a noticeable improvement. My question is really how do YOU combat the keybloat?

I play on PC and use keyboard/mouse. I like to target with my mouse and use my left hand for casting. Right now I have macros bound to q,1,2,3,4,e,r,f,z,x,c, and v. I have a CD bar with things I click manually during my rotation, like fey wind, rouse, aetherflow etc. I also have a dedicated non-combat bar for travel. If I wanted to use these same buttons for all of my abilities individually, what's the best way of laying them out? Or are these buttons even the way to go or am I doing it all wrong?

Feel free to share your keybind no matter your job if you think it's efficient. I'll take advice from anyone. Thanks!

PS4 controller on computer solved everything for me. Don't really use any edited or combination macros for anything but im only 58 sch atm. I actually wish they would make an L+R set for skills.

If you mean just hold down the L+R buttons at the same time, select "extended crossbar" and you can set a crossbar to be brought up when holding L ->R and R -> L (or the same for both like me).

I also play on a PC with Keyboard/mouse and a Razer Nostromo

keyboard or mouse on my right hand and Razer on the left hand

i have my keybinds setup so that the skill slots are access though numbers 1 to 9, - and =.
bar 1 i access by pressing the directly on the slot
bar 2 i have to press the Ctrl buttion then the slot number (eg crtl+1)
bar 3 i have to press the alt buttion then slot number (eg Alt+1)
Pet bar Crtl+Alt

on the razer on my thumb i have Alt bound and look around bound on the thumb stick
on my little finger i have Crlt bound

my 3 main fingers i have movement bound in the following way

strife left, forward, strife right
move left, back, move right

Q and E are remapped for "target nearest enemy" and "target nearest PC". Tab is for "target self".

X for summoning my most favorite mount.

Most important abilities are mapped to hotbar 1-7, hotbar2 1-7 (Ctrl+1-7), and hotbar3 1-7 (Shift+1-7) because I don't like pressing any key beyond 7.

Ctrl+Tab for limit break

Shift+Q for Overwhelm (PvP)

Shift+E for Purify (PvP)

Shift+Z for Second Wind

Shift+C for Mount Guide

Ctrl+F for Sprint

I use keyboard and a razer naga, with the thumb buttons set to the numpad buttons. Everything important is on numpad 1-9 or alt + 1-9. I have some other skills bound to letter keys, like provoke/swiftcast are on Q, sprint is on F, interrupt on E, but the bulk of my skills are on the thumb pad. large dps/defensive/throughput cooldowns are on the 1-5, and things like protect, fairy summons, defensive stances, are on the number keys farther down. all my menu buttons, like for the map, are shift+ letter.

Lots of people are talking about their mouse...

My mouse is really cheap: it's only got the left/right click, scrolly, a center button that by default adjust the mouse's sensitivity, and forward/back internet browing buttons. I wish there was a way to set those forward/back buttons to ctrl/alt, so that alternate hotbars were only a thumb+button away...Does anyone know if that's possible?

I think it's called a blackweb grim? I could be wrong. >.<

The Razer Nostromo is a gaming numberpad can't really play without it

i do have a logitech mouse (wired/wireless with 4 buttions on the side) and Madcat STRIKE 5 keyboard

so you could say i have some fancy kit

EDIT: adding in some write-up as to my choices.

1. Ruin III and Deathflare are both on 6 (and shift6) as they are both casted while in DWT
2. All Pet skills are in the same area under CTRL 1-6
3. 1-6 and shift 1-6 are the most used skills with 1-6 being spells and shift being abilities
4. C is conveniently placed to be usable whether straffing left or right with WASD
5. Swiftcast in the same area as both Shadowflare/Raise
6. Raging/Quelling together as I often use them together
7. ~ area is my AoE spam spot
8. E for Sprint, so I can quickly hit it while moving with WASD
