    Messages over 45+ characters vanishing.

In Roleplay I notice a lot of times my messages, and messages from friends simply vanish. This is kind of bad/horrible, and if they retype it, they some times have to reword or retype it completely just to get it to show. The sad thing is, they don't even get a warning message when it happens. It just doesn't show up.

If this system was put into place to remove RMT: "Remove it now" please. It does nothing to combat RMT. All it does is piss off paying players.

All you need to combat RMT is a "Blacklist Filter", allow players to put any word they don't want to see inside this filter and walla, no more RMT.

However, punishing players with this filter?

At least WARN the players when their messages don't go through.

Sadly yet another thing that was implemented to limit the capabilities of RMTs.

But, it doesn't do anything against RMTs. None of the posts have anything that is normally said like. "Gold" "Gil" "$" "Buy", none of these posts have words like that in them.

It limits the total amount of text that an RMT can post at once disallowing them from 'blowing up' your chat window in a single post. They assume that anyone posting text longer than 45 characters is spamming the chat... which I agree is an asinine assumption, granted, but it's one of the restrictions they put in place to alleviate the issue.

Well, that kind of kills roleplaying. Since mostly all role-play quotes are over 45 characters.

That also does nothing to prevent spam. Since most RMTers put in a macro that spams you with multiple chats, some times even annoying pictures.

I understand that general RP text can become long (been there, done that), especially when writing out a variety of stuff relating to the character (emotions, actions, descriptions, reactions, speaking and how they're speaking, etcetcetc) but you might want to end up looking into writing out a certain amount of text, then putting some kind of sign to show more is coming (unless you're RPing with someone intuitive enough to recognize an unfinished sentence when they see one and don't jump the gun before you finish). It does break up the paragraphs a lot, but it's better than nothing :/
I haven't RP'd other than to joke around, in FF, but I have in other text chat mediums over the years (AIM, MSN, Hangouts, etc), and having similar limitations on larger paragraphs (esp if I'm RPing several characters in motion, at once >_>). But the people I've RP'd with can spot when I've left off in the middle of a sentence and can tell I intend to complete that paragraph. So... in other words, hitting enter slightly early. Might look a little messy, though. But it didn't matter as much with the format my friends and I used, since we used *'s to encase actions/feelings, rather than using something like /em.

So, in other words, for example using that idea...

/em wracked his brain for an idea - any idea at all - for a suitable, if not temporary, solution to the problem at hand... but unfortunately, only ------
/em -- one idea came to mind... no matter how unfavorable it will most likely be received. "Hurr durr, lets put a bunch of agreed-upon symbols, like '-----', at the end of the sentence/paragraph of each section of submitted text to denote more text coming, hurrrr :3", he finally babbled. Unfortunately, many a popoto was hurled in Saseal's direction, that day.
/em sheepishly collects the popotos for popoto stew, and attempts to escape unnoticed by seething RPers...

It used to block being able to type anything longer than what could be sent. I've once or twice tried to type out detailed instructions for something and had the chat window reach the point where it had as much text as it would accept and just wouldn't react to anything more I typed. Has that changed? Or is it platform specific? (This was on PS4) That seemed a pretty clear indicator of where the limit was.

it doesn't help against gold spamming, so why leave it in? It's probably not meant for that. If it's just /em doing it, it might just be Japanese devs not thinking. Sure they can say plenty in 45 characters, but English in its written form is nowhere near as concise.

Just using yours to illustrate how bad this is, there's your quote, edited down to 45 characters
never mind RP which I have become a massive fan of recently, we use /em and /say
but how the hell are we supposed to be able to communicate at all?

(bolded is the 1st 45 of mine)

that first emote alone (not icluding "/em" ) is a 150 characters XD

edit ... maybe limit tells to 45, or 100, but leave the other channels alone.
