Ultimate Dungeons: The seven hells & The void

    Hello, adventurers!

This is an idea for another veeery future content I would like to see in Eorzea, something I've been thinking about for quite some time.

Basically, it's about two special dungeons, let's say “ultimate dungeons” for the places I'm talking about:

    1. The seven hells

As we lore-interested adventurers know, when your times comes in Eorzea you can either go to the heavens or to the seven hells.
Recently, Fernehalwes gave another tidbit (here) about the latter place; some, in fact, believe that the first six hells represent each of the six elements, while the seventh, where the lord of the underworld (!) is located, is eternal oblivion (deaspected hell?).
Also, as we learned during the Call of Boody sidequest, there's a rumor that Shposhae might be the gate to the first of the seven hells... Although it's just a rumor, probably spread by Mistbeard to keep people away from the loot he hid there, I though it would be cool if some specific places of Eorzea would actually be the gates to the underworld.

One might say: “To reach such a place you can only be... dead.”, yeah. But there might be some Dantesque/Divine Comedy-like exception, and you might indeed be able to reach these seven hells, until, on the last one, you may battle with the lord of the underworld himself!

I had an idea about reaching the heavens, too, after battling with the lord of the hells, a place with celestial monsters/guards and where The Twelve will test your strength... but that's another story. The seven hells are what really interest me for now.

    2. The void

The good ol' Ferne already gave some lore tidbits on the void in the past (here), a realm different than the hells and the heavens, where the voidsents reside, sent to our Eorzea by a sinister force beyond the corporeal realm.

I think that being able to actually reach this place, after slowly learning more about it, would be even more feasible than the seven hells.

And I have a special request, as well: Might there be a secret room (like the “dev team room” of some old RPGs) with a few NPC monsters inside? I'm talking about the English Localization Team, renowned voidsents, like Fernehalwes (Ahriman), Eemeefu (Phurble/Snurble) and the rare Pinurabi (Ogre), who would be there to give away more informations on the void.
If this secret room might be taken into consideration alongside the dungeon, it would be awesome, also considering the Great work of the LOC Team.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading, I hope the community reps here will forward it to Yoshi-P!

    Regards,

    Cloudio Onizuka, void-interested adventurer

It could be done, but it'd have to be done carefully. This especially applies to the void. It's like limbo, if you can actually go there, it's no longer a void - its a place.

    The void

Hmmm... Somehow it is a place, considering there're actually monsters being sent to our realm. For some reason, I imagine the void to be a place like The End of Time in Chrono Trigger... except there're no Nuus.

Well, anyway, I hope they'll take the request into consideration... and in the meantime have new quests to learn more of this dimension beyond the corporeal realm (and “the force” behind it, whatever – or whoever – that may be...).

It would be amazing if they made endgame for this, but would probably be for like, when the level cap was extremely high.

I want the void to be like Royston Vasey.

My lord would that be the scariest endgame to ever exist.

    Ultimate Dungeons

I wanted to bring this last Topic back up, since I particularly liked this old suggestion of mine but always forgot to re-post.

Those adventurers who played the 7th Umbral Era now know more about the Void even if they didn't pay attention to the previous dialogues, as we've all battled voidsents alongside Atomos.

The mystery of the Void is one of those that interest me the most, so I hope in the far future we may get a chance to explore this dimension.
And considering Yoshida-san said in A Realm Reborn there'll be several references to previous Final Fantasy titles, then asking to have a Gilgamesh in there might not be too much!

While for the Seven Hells, that might be a lot more complicated, but some tidbits every now and then (like when it was discovered that Shposhae may hold the entrance to the gate of one of the seven hells) would be nice to soothe our thirst for netherlore.

I imagine the Void as an abstract place where the normal rules of reality are twisted and warped, where up can suddenly become down and doors keep sending you in circles until you work out the puzzle behind them.

    Think Escher's room and Inception

Another part of the Void could be navigating floating rocks in a maelstrom of Aether.

I think that "ultimate" is tough to gauge with an ever growing challenge system, but the crystal tower and labyrinth will certainly fit the ticket for the foreseeable future.

I had used the void in a concept for a future expansion, however.

I dunno. That "Floating Rocks" thing has been done to death. Escher's room sounds so much better, or a plane that stretches out forever, with only runes or magic to tell you the edges, 'lest you end up lost.

Or have it be a large plane that wraps around like a pac man board.

Wouldn't this make it kind of like the realm of Oblivion in Elder Scrolls lore?
