Backing up character data

Hey everyone,

So here's the deal; i'm gonna upgrade my HDD and GPU

and since i will need to reinstall everything, i would like to know what files i need to backup to save my character data!

i had a HDD die on me a long time ago and from that i know that character data is saved client side; stuff like your toolbars etc.

and i would like to prevent setting all skills for all classes again if i can prevent that !

In your Documents folder, you'll find a directory called "My Games" and underneath that "FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn". Just back up that entire folder (it won't be that big unless you have partial patches downloaded) and put it back in place after you reinstall, recreating the "My Games" folder too if it doesn't exist at the time of reinstall.
