Let's use the 66% value. If 34% of the current game population starts paying, it's still an increase over 0% now...Forgive me, this post was just so... out of touch I have to comment on it. So.. really? You think that SE is not going to pull the plug if it doesnt have enough people to support it via subs? If 66% (quoting a post above) actually leave, you can kiss this game goodbye. Why? Because upper management and bean counters wil lstate that since 66% is not paying then most likely the game would not be worth holding up.
Think about it please.
Agreed.. what alot of people around here dont realize is that there are several hyped titles coming down the river... and oddly around the time they are planning to charge for this game. Look folks, I for one really want to see this game succeed. But making people pay for a "head honcho-stated half done" game when two hype titles are about to come out is a BAD idea. TOR... and GW2. So... ya... i really want to see this game do good... but i dont want to be playing in a dessert with no people in it.
I mean don't get me wrong. I fully realize that they are the "only" mmo devs "i've" ever seen try this hard to pull a "flopped" game out of the fire.. but in the end that wont count for anything if no ones playing it.

It is hilarious how you guys keep coming in here and calling people sheep and yet you all spout basically verbatim the same exact garbage. It's like you have a script. Who are really the sheep?Agreed.. what alot of sheep around here dont realize is that there are several hyped titles coming down the river... and oddly around the time they are planning to charge for this game. This forum makes me a bad person.
Its funny when people do nothing but point at something they find offensive instead of contributing to the discussion by trying to see it through my eyes. Would you like to add something or shall we keep jabbing each other for hours on end? Maybe that will help this game out right?
Edit: And for your "comfort" ive edited the sheep part out.

meh... 2/10.
should have used the picard manouvre, then you'd have gotten at least 5/10.
Who cares. First it was the game was going to fail miserably. Now that future plans are stated through 2013 it's on to the next whine.. the dreaded start of pay to play. Sooo.. the game is good enough to play for free but when it comes time for people to ante up their beer and hooker funds it's a no go.Forgive me, this post was just so... out of touch I have to comment on it. So.. really? You think that SE is not going to pull the plug if it doesnt have enough people to support it via subs? If 66% (quoting a post above) actually leave, you can kiss this game goodbye. Why? Lame. Look if people like the game and want to pay to play then do so. If you like the game but not enough in it's current state to pay then take a leave and come back when you think it's good enough to pay for. If you are just a free leech who never wants to pay despite the games condition then admit that to yourself and move on already and stop trolling the end of FF14. Haters gonna hate.. Players gonna play no matter what.
yeah that one comment is absurd. If noone stayed in the game it would end of course but that's ridiculous and not going to happen. Give Yoshi and his team and the suits at SE a little more credit. Don't you think these smart guys have sat down and taken all this into consideration already.. the potential playerbase losses vs gains present and future.
Everything you people have thought of that's the possible demise of ff14 they have already discussed a long time ago. The game is going to thrive and there's nothing you can do about it except post more garbage and stop playing or get onboard.

They aren't going to unplug the game. Your original math is wrong based off the posted thread poll... 600 yes / 200 no = 800 votes, thats 1/4 of people playing will quit.
No one ever takes into account that a ton of people don't use the forums, people will quit, people will join, people will leave for a time, people will return... blah blah blah its a cycle. I'm sure we will see a slight decline but nothing that significant. And even if 1,000 people were playing the game total they would still keep it running. They are working hard to fix their image not break it again.
How many of you guys like to do hard work for free?
They definitly have improved this game by 200% and it's time to pay after a long year. I liked the game from the first day. Maybe because I have my own opinion and didn't need to read those very important reviews from players out there, which only can play an MMORPG if it looks, plays and sucks like WOW.
I'm happy to pay for playing this game. SE has disappointed me with their latest titles but I really like how they work with FFXIV and try to fix their mistake.
Btw. If only one person is going to pay for continue playing, they will earn more money with the game than now. Especially since they can turn down their server sizes.
