Nope, I totally did see that. I just think it being displayed on-screen is better than having to check someone to find out.
Someone could change their name and be running around and you may never think to look at or check them, and so you'd never realize it was the person you know with the bad rep. But it being on-screen for a month or two, people won't be able to help but notice.
And SE could make it in dimmed or smaller, non-obnoxious, out of the way text.

Perhaps just have a symbol next to the persons name or their name being a certain colour (say red) to show that this person has changed his/her name in the last say 20-30 days.

This idea could be combined with the others. :3
A symbol by the name, then check the person to see the old name.
Then symbol disappears after a set time.

^-^ Nice. Not often I see ideas from different people coming together like this. People are usually too busy arguing with each other rather than thinking. lol

Characters created before the new genders are implemented should be allowed a one-off race/gender change.

No further race/gender changes should be allowed beyond this.

EDIT: This is all very Doctor Who.

I think it would be nice to see how things look so having the option would be nice.

Also if we need a silly story reason, umbral era aether instability causes failed teleports that reconfigure as another spoken race. Aether explains everything.

Agreed. Offer existing (pre-2.0) players a one-time free race/gender/name change.

However, I think subsequent changes should incur a higher cost, more like $25. In MMOs, all you have is your reputation. I think wiping the slate clean should come at a cost that makes you think twice.

Why should it cost real money, however? Just put a time limit on it - say only one race change per toon every 3 months.

No need to charge real money if time is a factor. Waiting 3 months to wipe your slate clean is a high enough price to pay.

Unless I am way off base and it actually takes 10bucks of tech/manpower/overhead to wipe one persons slate clean... I highly doubt it does though.

I think WoW is just greedy - Rift (which is same sub price as WoW) gives one free transfer per toon for free every 3 months while WoW charges 25bucks per transfer (that can only be done once every 3 months as well).

Yes to Race, and Gender change.

There are alot of people that wish Male Miqote was at the start, but chose Female Miqote instead. I think its only fair to allow players to switch. I dont think its odd at all that 1 day your friend is a female elezen, then a male roegadyne the next. its completely no different than deleting your current char, and making a new with the same name, the only difference is you dont have to redo all your quests. Changing your char is a one time thing, so its not like its going to keep happening.

Given what it says in PDF, I'll be pretty annoyed if we don't get to change race etc when v2.0 rolls around. Not the "oh bleh" annoyed either, the slow glaring from afar annoyed.

If we arn't getting the chance to change in v2.0 though I'd like to know sooner rather than later so I don't invest too much time into leveling more than what I need to do the events and stuff (1 battle class). I've been making slow progress grinding my crafts even though I find it tedious and devoid of fun in the good faith that it'll be worth it in v2.0. So if I am gonna have to remake in v2.0 I think I'll hold off doing that.
