If male Miqo'te would've been available from the start, I would most probably have gone with them. But alas, they were not. I agree that it is very weird to see characters you used to know change radically from one day to the next - especially if it's your own - yet if I weren't allowed to change, each time I would see a Manqo'te pass by I'd get all jealous and depressed and and start crying and troll the forums and... you get the picture.

There's a very good example of one of these players on my server. Multiple lv50s, so he obviously put a lot of time into his character. But, he's a total d-bag and the whole server basically hates him. He made his own reputation. People don't hate him because they're hateful, they hate him because of the things he's done/said to others (some of which should have constituted a ban imo).

Allowing players like these to freely change their name/character just gives them the green light to keep acting the way they do without consequence. I say f*ck that. If you want to be an asshole, expect to be treated as such.

I don't think it would be fair to let a few bad apples ruin it for everyone.
I've suggested in a few other threads, for name changes specifically, I think it would help if the person's old name would hover above their new name(perhaps dimmed a bit, so not to be obnoxious) for perhaps a month or two, before disappearing and leaving just the new name. That way people would see who this person was, and they keep their old rep.

I guess you didn't see my post about having handles visible when targeting/checking someone. It's the same thing, except not always displayed next to everyone's name.

Hey gang, there was actually a post from Yoshida that we missed on the 19th that addresses this topic specifically (sorry for the delay in getting it to you all!). I wanted to make sure everyone saw it, and spoke up with their opinions to what Yoshida is discussing.

I say yes to letting us change our races in the manner you said before. I like playing Roegadyn but many times I wished I would have started as a different race. Also I really hope they allow us to do a name change as well because if I decide to go with a female character I really don't want the same name.

I really hope Yoshi does let us change race AND gender!! My main is actually a male, but I really want to be female! I just don't want to start over because I've already invested so much time into it.
