Steam trial, cannot add new service account?

Hi, incredibly frustrated here:

Started with a steam trial, decided to buy the game through the current humble bundle promotion, but the key cannot be applied to a steam trial account. So I have to start over. Sucks, I can live with it, whatever... so the instructions say to log into mogstation and hit "add new service account":

It's because you can't have more than 1 steam license on the same square-enix account. You need to make a new square-enix account.

The "add service account" button only appears once you have at least one valid service. Right now you have a trial account which doesn't count (bad website design?).

So like the above said, you need to create a new Square Enix account, but not quite for the reason they said (to the best of my knowledge you can have multiple Steam service accounts on the same Square Enix account, but I only have 1 Steam and 3 non-Steam on mine so I can't confirm that for sure, but there shouldn't be any reason why not as they're all separate accounts within the same parent account).

I appreciate the help but I could not manage to do it. I simply made a new squareenix account. It's so convoluted.
