Gear progression 50+

Ive been trying to do some research while im at work on how to progress in equipping myself come 50+. Ive seen the lvl 50 raids and the sets that come from them and my question is do I simply go through each one acquiring those armor pieces until I can move onto the next raid to get those pieces until I can get enough poetics for that set and so on?

Im mainly looking for a path, if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

You can quest and get your 110 gear, but honesty once you pass 50, you get handed HQ 115 gear from MSQ in Ishgard.

You should aim to get to lv 60, get ilv 145 to be able to run the lv 60 roulette dungeons, and farm Law tomestones from that to get high enough to go into Alexander NM (if that's your cup of tea) or Void Ark (limited to once a week) while farming esoterics slower. Don't forget starting your Anima relic, should save you tomes on getting a i200 weapon.

Do the lv 50 raids if you want to, for glamour, but not progression.

Yeah. Once you finish all the ARR MSQ's, literally the first Heavensward MSQ gives you HQ 115.

Mostly you just follow the main story questline. At 50, your job quest should give you ilevel 90 gear, which is your starting point. As you level through the mainstory, you get free ilevel 110, which is enough to get you to Heavensward. However, I would also highly recomment spending your tomes of poetics on ilevel 120 gear. You can find the npc where you trade those tomes in Revenant's Toll/ Mor Dhona.The NPC's name is Auriana. You gain those tomes mostly from dungeons and trials which you automatically unlock through mainstory. You also get a "first clear" bonus. I would also recommend doing the optional level 50 dungeons which you can unlock through quests found mostly in Revenant's Toll/ Mor Dhona. Doing all level 50 dungeons should give you enough tomes to gear up in ilevel 120 and you unlock the Level 50 roulette which helps you at level 60 to get ilevel 170 gear.

I wouldn't spend poetics on i120 gear given that you get a free set of i115 the moment you set foot in HW, quickly replaced by i125 at lv 52-53. And you'll need poetics for other stuff, like your anima relic. Get the i120 gear if you like the looks (as glamour). I personally skipped over it (I quit shortly before 2.3 and came back in 3.0, I just used the quest-given gear and did fine).

That does seem like it would make more sense. I know I dont need to go for my relic weapon before the anima relic but do you think its advisable to do so? or will the weapon get replaced as well as the armor when I hit HW?
