It's far too dark and obscured to be anything other than just a background rock.
Does that really apply in a virtual world? I mean someone made that scene, unless they're specifically trying to mess with us, that's a dead-ringer for the Zodiark statue seen in previous Ascian cutscenes. It was put there for a reason, this verse now alluding to the Moon and Him just further solidifies the idea. The Gerun Oracles wouldn't be coming up now if it wasn't relevant, either it's "the truth" -and it's high time we actually learned something about that -or everyones favorite Ascian is deliberately messing with us, and the developers are getting meta and doing so as well... Would certainly be an interesting idea, but I seem to recall mention of the whole Ascian plot being cleared up (but perhaps not entirely finished) in 3.0s cycle, so I'd assume the former is more likely...

Petition to rename Elidibus to Mr Quackers? All in agreement? Good.

I bet it indeed does - I remember there's been a few people posting "look what I found!" pics of faces hidden in obtuse locations.... and again all it is is pareidolia at work. The human mind is predisposed to finding 'order in chaos' visually and so will see patterns in things where none actually exist. Personally I think if SE did want to stick a statue of Zodiark on the Moon in that scene, they would have framed it specifically as such... but all you get of that rock is not even a one second glimpse and it moves out of frame. And it's never shown in that scene again.

And considering that statue... thing in the Chrysalis was never explained at all, again I wouldn't be so quick to claim "That's Zodiark!" without knowing more. (After all, the artbook stated that the Chrysalis was actually a dimension formed from the memories of the Ascians and wasn't a 'real' place at all, so, I don't know, maybe there is more to that than meets the eye.

Damnit, I hate when I set out to debunk a theory and then end up finding myself agreeing with it!

As far as the apocripha comment that uriange made, I think it's worth noting that after Elidibus insisted he read it anyway Uriange was incredibly shocked at what he read.

That might mean that there is a verse AFTER this one that gives the definitive "How the F*** did we miss THAT!" Moment.

By bet, The 12 origenal Ascian Overlords are The Twelve (where as these are simply semi-mortal substitutes) while Elidibus and THE ORIGENAL Warrior of Light make up the 14. After The 1st Twelve left and The First WoL died then Only Elidibus, Zodiark's Avatar, was left and had selected 12 Ascian replacements and attempted to recrute the cureent WoL to round out the original number.

Now that we've set ourselves as enemies and killed 3 of the 12 Overlords, we threaten to disterbe The Ballence in Hydaelyn's favor and destroy Zodiark's. And that nee profacy may hint at a FF3 style "Flood of Light" thus why Darklander and his crew were brought in.

However the game has shown that Hydaelyn has been getting weaker every Era. Even the ascians say that.

As for the Apocripha thing, it's worth noting that if this is from Louisoix then he at least took the writing somewhat seriously.

I don't know, with the whole "Ascians are the Twelve" theory, I saw Lahabrea and Elidibus as Nald and Thal now, 12 and 13, but there being 14 doesn't make sense with it. We already have "The twelve are really thirteen" do we really need "The twelve are really fourteen?"

Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

(I personally agree that Zodiark is probably a celestial body of some sort in the way that Hydaelyn is, be it the moon or an alternate, connected planet like IX or an AU).

Well I thought the same; the shot is too brief, and the "statue" is cast in a lot of shadow, but at the same time it does bear a significant resemblance and was likely there for sharp-eyed players to notice.

Interesting that the Chrysalis is formed from the memories of the Ascians. I always figured it was a pocket dimension, not a real place, but being created from the Ascians' memory is very interesting...

    神話 始まるより昔 光も闇もなく ただひとつの海あり

    歴史 始まるより昔 光と闇分かたれ 十四の海とならん

    星は月を恐れ 数多の子らを海に放ち

    月は星を憎み 数多の子らを海に還す

Found this website as I was looking into the journal and it listed past entries as well.

The final line about "His doom" screams a reference to Doom (aka Fiend aka Sephirot) from FFVI to me, combined with the sneak preview image of FFXIV's Fiend/Sephirot above the letter. Were the Warring Triad creations of Zodiark/the Moon sent to destroy Hydaelyn/The Star?

With regards to the Moon, given the presence of the statue and its significance to the Ascians/WoDs, has anyone considered the possibility that it was once an actual habitable world? Lahabrea has oft referenced Hydaelyn as a parasite or cancer and it wouldn't surprise me to discover she stole the aether from Zodiark's creation and killed it to improve her own. It's an educated shot in the dark but it would explain a lot if it were the case.
