I usually get the reaction of "There's a FFXIV?!" And then they do the usual negative response of FFXIII, to which, I defend.

And someone who called FFXIV "fail", I ate their cookies and commented, "fail!". At least I tried the cookie before saying fail, he hasn't tried FFXIV (in truth, his batch of cookies tasted like "hot nothing", to which I might've otherwise said, "I think this recipe needs more work, it's difficult to taste it" as opposed to shouting out "Fail!" in the most vengeful manner possible).

We haven't talked of FFXIV since. And his cookies still taste like hot nothing. We're working on that though.

It's nice to hear about what kind of reactions people face when their friends find out they play FFXIV
And it's also funny to read the fictional stories people think of who don't take this topic seriously

So how should you deal with peer pressure? If you really enjoy the game you have to stick up for yourself. It would suck to lose social standing with anyone in your circle, but if you truly enjoy playing, it might be worth it.

stop being a loser who gives a damn about what other people think about the games you play. and lulz at the "social standing" bits, are you being serious?

I gave my friends crap for buying RIFT, it's only fair that they give me crap over XIV now.

But since we're friends, we all laugh about it and move on. I don't feel pressured not to play.

If your friends are different, go farm up some new ones.

when I moved to Italy all my coworkers said they quit XIV right away n binned it, they really dont like me talking about it anymore, even tried to show them v2 but they said they've been let down once so they dont have any faith, just "i'll believe it when i see it".

If you look at comments on youtube or websites about gaming, everyone has a mindset along the lines of "Even if FFXIV becomes the best MMO one day, I'm still not gonna try it."

That's unexpected that people have resistance tot he idea of it becoming better.. I wonder why that is?
