Final Fantasy fans are nerds.

There is a fundamental difference between Geek and Nerd. Nerd being the more respectable of the two.

I admittedly stayed away from this game until roughly 8 months after launch specifically because of all of the bad press. I used to watch streams of people playing and think to myself, "Hmmm. It seems like they're having fun," - this was back when reviews pretty flatly stated that if you liked the game you were "wrong" and were only forcing yourself to play out of stubbornness or sheer stupidity.

When I finally bought the game, I really liked it. Still do. I recently made a comment to an acquaintance along the lines of, "I actually really like Final Fantasy XIV. I wish I had more time to play it."
Him: "F$^# that game."
Me: "Oh. Have you played it?"
Him: "I'm not that stupid."

...yeah.

At any rate, I'll be subscribing and gladly paying
