A Few Newbie Questions

Hello, I tried this game out a little while back and wasn't too sure about it... to be honest I felt a little intimidated by the abundance of new systems, rotations and terms to learn. Recently however, I decided to come back and give it another go. Didn't want to let some silly, little fear make me miss out!

Although I am new too FFXIV and I have played, at least somewhat "skillfully", many other online games from Ultima to Ragnarok to Lineage, Rift, WoW, Aion, Tera, SWtOR, LotRO, etc... but I hope to make my next home here for a very long while. However, since beginning my journey to Dragoon I ran into a few questions I was hoping a more experienced member of the community might be able to answer.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this and reply! My questions are as follows:

1. Should I level to max before learning another class?

One NPC at the lancer guild suggested in some quest dialogue that I should level to 50 before anything, but I thought I needed to raise another class before I could learn my job? Does it really matter?

2. What is the best way to make moola in FFXIV?

I have to admit, in just about every game I ever played I am always the poorest person I know. It probably doesn't help that I have virtually no self control when it comes to vanity items like pretty hats and cute pets but I am determined to spend my currency more responsibly this time around. So if one were interested in joining the local millionaires class, what is the best way to go about doing that? Do I start now or after max level?

3. Do I need to do any homework before Satasha?

I have been leveling via quests, fates and recently discovered battlecraft leves as well. However I hit a bit of a wall quest wise as I am required to use the duty finder to enter the dungeon Satasha before I can progress any further in my main story. Is this something I need to study up on rotations and boss mechanics for? Or since it's low level is it just the typical tank & spank stuff? Or maybe its farmed by high level people who like to blow through it? Does that mean I need to find a lowbie friendly FC first?

5. What are linkshells?

I have heard a bit about linkshells but am not too sure what they are... they sound a bit like chat rooms? Wouldn't being connected to a few of them be too chaotic and too hard to follow? Or am I understanding this wrong?

6. Does this game have any known issues with 4k display support? Or other resolutions?

I recently made the not so bright decision of upgrading to a 4k display setup. Just about every game I tried to play (including this one) could not load the native res in spite of my video card (Nvidia GTX980) being powerful enough. Futhermore I absolutely hated all the scaling issues in windows and other programs so I downgraded to a 28" 1080p... however I noticed when I tab out of FFXIV to Firefox, VLC or other things (on a second moniter) the game window doesn't minimize or stay put, but rather shrinks into some 1/4 screen squished mess. Is this normal? Should I be worried?
