Divine Veil and macros!

I have two macros: One that informs the group that I am using Divine Veil and for the healer(s) to NOT heal me. My second macro is letting them know that Divine Veil wore off, and to continue healing me.

A few people told me it's unneccessary because Veil should be used to shield the party. Others told me I should quit tanking lol...

Why would you not want to be healed during dv?

Maybe it's the FibroFog affecting me but I thought the whole idea of Divine Veil was to get the heals that trigger the shield for your party. Or am I a bad Scholar & have been doing it wrong?

DV defends me for 10% of my max HP. There were times where I took zero damage with DV up before I was healed. The instant I'm healed, the shield leaves me and is transferred to the party.

DV doesn't do anything for you. The entire point of the ability is to shield your party.

If it's not triggered with a heal, it simply wears off.

I don't quite know what to say. Your DV seems to be working completely counterintuitive to the way it should. You shouldn't get a shield at all unless you're healed, you then get a 10% max HP shield that also spreads.

Unfortunately, you are understanding the ability wrong. Here's how it goes down.

1. You activate Divine Veil.
2. A buff is placed on you, lasting 30 seconds. This buff does absolutely nothing for you.
3. You receive a heal from a party member.
4. You lose this buff, and a shield is applied to nearby party members. This shield absorbs damage equal to 10% of your maximum HP.

I'd like to reiterate this again: The buff that you have before you are healed does not do anything for you. It is just there to wait for a heal, whereupon the ability's actual effect will apply.

Always get that heal during Divine Veil. The ability is completely wasted otherwise.

Divine Veil does literally nothing for the paladin at ANY POINT. It's purely a 10% AOE stoneskin on the other 7 players. The buff isnt transferred, the first buff on the paladin is merely the "holding buff" that requires the heal to trigger.

Also, once you get used to how Divine Veil works, you shouldnt ever need to macro it. If you know the flow of a fight and how the party moves and positions you can easily time it to go out at the point a healer uses an aoe spell (or is spam healing with you) and it'll pop off anyway.
