Or unofficial posts, like /r/ffxiv or YouTube vids? Just curious if peoples thoughts are considered by the Americas and maybe the Japanese development team.

Apparently the community team gathers information from this forum every so often, and sends it to the development team. As to what they send? Who knows. From what it appears it's mostly cosmetic changes though such as minions/mounts, or rather, those are the ones they can and do often comment on. Kahuna from the community team does browse the Subreddit, but he's not too active and does suggest that posts that may require attention from the development team be made on the official forum and not 3rd party websites.
The community team does make an effort to scour those sites I believe though, I believe they stated that in the State of the Realm podcast with Mr Happy and Sly. They don't have much power in influencing the development team though. The main point is - the first place for answers from the devs should always be the Official Forums. That's the one thing I will probably not be able to do here, at least not without making this my sole purpose![]()
All the patch notes should give you a clear answer..
The community reps are quite active.
It's my understanding that members of the community team frequently check these forums to hear what the players are saying, though they only comment on particularly important topics, or on smaller topics that can be implemented without causing backlash which is usually cosmetic items/minions/mounts.....
They read a lot of it but it's all with a grain of salt. It's a lot easier to complain than it is praise.
Also the best way to get attention is to get a post with likes and multiple pages. A lot of people with special snowflake syndrome make multiple posts with the same topic because they want to be the first one on the page with the most important opinion and as a result a lot of it gets lost as static.
But just a guess that anyone that overtly tags posts with titles like [gm] "DEVS RESPOND PLZ" "please respond personally to my single problem" probably get ignored even harder
