Even so, they do grant their followers some of their own powers (e.g. tempered weapons and totems from Ifrit or the ability to power up flying ships from Garuda).
If they truly didn't care about them, they wouldn't have even bothered granting some of their..."magnificence", so to speak.

They don't. They care about themselves. Having followers that die from anything that looks at them funny isn't a good thing. Having followers that can conquer and expand their influence, bringing them more fodder for tempering (and thus more power), on the other hand...

By ARR however, there is no doubt as to the danger Primals pose to Hydaelyn and all who dwell on Her. The ARR storyline is merely reflecting the greater knowledge about them.
Oh, we knew that summoning them is not harmless. Even before Louisoix came to Gridania.

Couple of things... They have explained that due to the graphic intensive textures they had to lower graphic performance from 1.0 to 2.0. New tech is now available so maybe we will get upgraded graphics later on. Second it has been stablished that our current primals aren't the real ones but "Dark Summons" that look tile the originals. So our 2.0 primals are actually evil and bad to Eorzea.

None of the summoned primals are "real" - they are what those who summon wish them to be. They really are the "eikon" - false gods - that the Garleons purport them to be. The Twelve deities that guard Eorzea could, in theory, be summoned as well.

The Ala Mihgan youths foolishly attempted to summon Rhalgr as a primal. I'm frankly surprised the Ishgardians didn't at some point try to summon Halone.

    Edit: Not enough coffee yet.

As warriors of light we control darkness with ease (blackmage, darknight, summoner etc). Unlike others who summon them out of fear and weakness no doubt they'd succumb into darkness. Reasoning with them could easily be another way to return them into aetherial realm (or w/e its called again) and possibly turn them into an ally in a pinch. I wouldn't knock that idea personally.

So I guess shiva is basically evil huh? The primals are manifestations of the host/hosts wills and use crystals as a form of sustenance for their sustained life time.. If summoned for assistance, they'd do just that (shiva, who risk their life for peace >_>) if summoned for protection they'd also do that (titan). Most of the primals we seen were summoned for an evil cause. Bigger primals like alexander were originally made to create a moving home (i think i heard from the story) but the gobbies decided to activated it to mess around. Kinda makes me wonder how much aether we actually need, considering black mages use it like candy and summoners suck it up like no tomorrow (aether flow). I'd doubt the planet would end due to mass aether absorption. Makes me wonder how much aether was required for dalamud to nuke us into the next era. srry for little rant but yeah.

1.0 I want to see it... I also want to see our character run like that again... the way they stop and go in 1.0 was pretty cool.

But yea I would really like to see more stories like those from 1.0 put into this newerish game in the future. Graphics I could give 2 doodle smacks for but the story, oh the story, I would love to see more good stories in this game.
