    Ifrit Loot system is unbearable

    The Ifrit fight was amazing to work through and overcome, but this loot system is driving me up the wall. It's painful watching people get nothing run after run after run, or if we do get drops it's invariably not what people need. The odds of, say, a MRD specifically getting an Axe, are just too low. It's not unrealistic to expect to see some people get every weapon EXCEPT the one for their class or the most needed weapons ending up with someone who doesn't even have the class leveled. Either allow us to distribute loot with the loot list like in Darkhold or make it some kind of token system where you get an item that you then exchange with an NPC for the weapon of your choice. I'm sure those aren't the only alternatives. I hope to see this changed in 1.19b.

    Edit: forgot to mention, people can get doubles of the same unneeded weapons they've already gotten before they ever get the one they want.

    Yes, the weapons are Unique/Untradable. Each person gets their own chest at the end of the fight and when they open it the contents are put directly into the inventory. Most of the time it's grade 5 dark matter. Even if you try opening the chest with a 200/200 inventory it won't put it into your loot list.

    Makes you wonder what they were thinking. This system is very shortsighted.

    My theory is it was done on purpose to extend the shelf life of the Ifrit battle.

    Yep. You either get a weapon (if you have lamp) or some grade 5 dark matter, and you always get some gil, for each player popping their chest. The repeatable quest rewards ~5400xp on level 45+ dow/m classes too.

    I agree, this is by far the worst loot system yet. I understand that DH was still working under the limitations of not having a party loot pool which is in of itself a bad system, but to not be able to direct items to the people that actually can use it is just asinine.

    I would be perfectly happy with the new loot system... if the roll of the dice that occurs would take into account duplicate weapons, and reward different weapons accordingly.

    I was not aware the the Ifrit loot system was so broken until I read some of these threads today. There still must be a few individuals from the original dev team working there ... maybe the brilliant chap who thought up the market-ward/retainer system and using it instead of an AH is the same guy who came up with this awesome loot system lol~
