A lot of time has passed since sept 2015 Game wize.Well, as of the 2015 census in September
It likely changed some in the past few months though. DRK and AST probably took some more numbers from other jobs. Machinists are still few and far between though. That said, a lot of us have multiple jobs and it likely affects those numbers and I'm not exactly sure how they calculated it (people who have the jobs at max level? Most likely the case, but I'm not sure.)

Almost every roulette I do I see a MCH in.

Yes, but there in lies the problem with trying to get an idea of the ratio of what classes are mained the most. We can't judge what class a person mains every time we meet them in a roulette. I myself often go in as a healer simply because it's easier to heal and doesn't require the level of focus being good at DPSing does. Then there's times when I go in with a partial party and I have to heal so other party members can DPS. Or times when I simply play as my NIN because I want a change of pace. MCH is still my main, but chances are equally good if not better that you'll find me in another role if you see me in the DF. Then there's datacenter differences. You claim to see MCHs constantly, but I almost never see them in roulette runs even when I go in solo on a healer, and it took a solid month or two after Void Ark came out before I started seeing any in there at all. Meanwhile other's claim that AST is something they never see, while I don't know that I've done a run this past week without an AST in the party. I see more of them than I do WHM or SCH, honestly. That's part of why I also don't trust the chart SE released about what class is played the most, because we don't know exactly how the data was collected or what slanted views it might have. The only way we'll get a true ratio on these is if SE put out a formal in game survey to all players asking them what their primary class was for content, which I doubt will happen any time soon....

And even then, people might say "Paladin", but in the end, still use a Warrior or DRK instead, similarly to how I always considered myself a Rogue main, but had to resort to playing a Monk instead until recently because EU latency on US servers ruined Mudras too much.

Next time they show the Census information, I hope they differentiate between NA, JP, and EU servers. Or even show NA and EU grouped together against JP. I think that that is a key element to showing popularity between jobs and how the regions differ. I swear I almost never run into any other Monks on an NA server, and I would actually consider it to be one of the least played damage classes from my previous experiences. I can't remember if that was the case a year ago, though...
You cannot judge by classes you see in roulette... I main SCH (WAR) and do roulettes on 50 currently on PLD for leveling the 60 stuff mostly as AST but depending on mood of myself and the people I run with as DRG/DRK/SMN/WHM/MCH... only 2 classes of my 60s are left aside atm that are my MNK and BLM
Think seen the Census before and NA/EU had its own but not entirely sure.Next time they show the Census information, I hope they differentiate between NA, JP, and EU servers. But OMG anyone else notice the proof of (old) DR EX giving more Alwaysreap than Fract....

The following is my observations from 2 weeks worth of anima weapon grinding via DF with some hunts thrown in.
Warriors seem to be the dominant tank from what i have seen, with a great number of them being deliverance driven block-heads hellbent on making a healers life hell. Paladins and dark knights still somewhat common but greatly overshadowed by the block-heads.
For melee, i think dragoon might be the most common but i feel like i see ninjas just as much. Monks fairly rare though.
Ranged seem to be a plague upon the DPS queues, having just finished the relic grind via DF spam i can easily say that both bard and machinist seem to fill almost all DPS slots followed closely by...
Summoners are also incredibly common as of late. Black mages seem to be increasingly rare as well.
Healers all seem about equal with scholars possibly lagging behind a bit, but not enough to worry over.
Most common overall would easily be the fell cleaving block-heads.
"Bards appear to be the most played class currently".
What a joke xD. I rarely ever see a decent hard.
I didn't say anything about it being the one with the most skilled players.
Wtih Bard's high popularity it is bound to have a lot of bad Bard players because it is believed to be a easy DPS job.

There must be way more bards on the aether datacenter than primal because I am always surprised when I run into one in duty finder over here (or see them in town). War/drk, nin and whm are the most common jobs in my experience. Smn/drg for DPS after nin then blm then mch/bard and sch/ast probably equal. Pld is definitely less used of the tanks.

Imaging how much this will change once 4.0 is out....
