    Materia Changes in 3.2:

Materia changes - From Patch 3.2 equipment purchased with tomestones will include materia slots.

So, Will Materia be dropping from Dungeons so we can sell/trade them? One of the issues i'm having with this is there is no way for someone who does dungeons to make money.

People are wanting 300-500k for one materia item. I only have 200k gil to my name. (Level 60.) right now.

Unless there another way for combat players to make a large chunk of money quickly like crafters I see this turning people away, making people quit the game. I dislike crafted armor because of how expensive it is and I hate Materia's RNG.

RNG is what turned me away from Archeage.

I actually love the gem systems from other games, but in this game Materia is so rare that its just not a fun system. In other games gems are very common.

Honestly if they don't make a way for materia to be easily attainable in 3.2 (20k each I guess?), I'm not going to be using it on my armour. As much as I want to output maximum DPS (even though the "hardest" content I do is EX primals), I'm not willing to spend 1 million+ per piece, it takes me a month just to make a million casually. There's no chance I'd be able to save that much and leave gil for other expenses unless I grind The Diadem, which I'm definitely not interested in. On the plus side, overmelding isn't allowed.

Diadem is old gear, which is probably getting replaced by all the new gear. Not an issue or relevant to this topic.

I'm just worried this game will turn into.

    1. To raid you need to buy from Gil Sellers or be rich or lucky.
    2. To do anything you need a certain gear type which makes it harder to get new people into raiding.

Merchant classes make far more money that battle classes? Sounds working as intended. If this weren't the case, then no one would craft... that aside, crafters don't literally "make"; they trade around money.

Uh, I think you're missing his point, because it's extremely relevant to this topic.

You can trade in Diadem spoils for tier V materia.

I don't think you understand how diadem works. Why don't you try playing the game before complaining about how hard it is to get materia when in reality, the addition of airships (and diadem) makes materia (figuratively) fall from the sky.

I would not have any issues with this if it was Everquest I and you got 10,000 AA's and each point made you a little stronger. That way I could be much stronger always doing what I do then what a crafter would do.

However, if your both a crafter and combat player you will have a significant advantage over just a combat player, someone who focuses only on one thing.

    That is "NOT" right.

Correct, I don't like Zerg content. If I wanted to play Zerg Content I would install Guild Wars 2. They do it much better. Sorry.

Why is that? It's not like there are restrictions to what classes any one can play. Anyone, at any point (after level 10) pick up any class (including non-combat classes) and level them.
