I actually have mostly praise for Yoshi-P and his team. I'm fairly certain most of the things that the majority find disagreeable are due to a lack of re-investment into the game from the people over him. You can't support a burgeoning game on a shoestring budget. Yell at the suits.

I also said that it's not nessescarly a good thing, because a lot of those points are missing the context behind it that it ends up causing more or other, bigger problems that put the game in its current state. Why are we lacking housing? It's a terrible system that allows for a single player to own multiple houses, and personal housing that shares the same system as FC housing.

Raiding is more accessible, even though it's also at an all time low, and we've only started gotten to the first raid tier.

The bigger picture behind all of this is being missed, and I can very well say the same that you're ignoring the underlying problem which will cause an eventual collapse because of the piling weight.

Hardly. The Housing system is flawed but at the same time has some great features. Further, this is something we know that they are taking steps to improve, starting with the abandon house reclamation on Christmas and with more to come later. Still not flawless with issues of people buying up land to resell but that's something that I suspect can be solved pretty easily. These are both issues that have been pretty well commented on.

The raids issue isn't that they have been made more accessible but that Alexander Savage is a bust for the static raiding playerbase. Most of the playerbase never got to touch Coil which is normal in raiding. Alexander Savage has opened that up to them. In this regard for a large part of the playerbase, the accessibility changes of Alex are a good thing.

There are multiple issues at work here in this situation and frankly the playerbase isn't united on exactly what those issues are. We generally comment on what is an issue to us personally as a player. However my point is that we have generally only had lists of the bad in most threads. Frankly the bigger picture will get just as obscured by having focus be only on what people don't like as it is for praise without context. The Devs need to know what people like as much as what they don't because its not like they can just completely scrap these systems and start from scratch. That just isn't feasible.

I would add that several of the problems people raise are things that existed in ARR and people still talk about it with praise. Clearly something was working then that isn't now and it isn't anything to do with the Housing system.

You've got to remember too that WoW has YEARS of content and upgrades and changes under its belt, and FFXIV as we know it now has only been out for a couple years. I would say that I wish the developers at FFXIV would break out of their content mold and do something awesome and unexpected, but we got diadem from that and everyone hated it. So I don't know what to tell them!

Diadem was busted by the meta mostly. Given the chance, players in endgame would seek out the easiest way to the important loot and eschew all others. Now that the gear won't be there and it will lokely not get updated until 3.3, and is mainly going to be for spiritbonding and materia diadem has an uncertain future for battle classes. Again, players seek out the easiest way to loot. If you bar that way with enough things, people will not do them and begrudgungly shuffle back into the df, forgetting your content.

Then its back to the same old tired grind, which leaves them disinterested, particularly those that cannot, or don't want to, raid, as everything gets brushed aside for it.

In that regard I think the idea of a more structured Diadem has potential, kind of like a more open ended dungeon. We will have to see how the changes they implement end up working.

This is true, and it pisses me off no end. The players at end game who are easily the most vociferous critics of Diadem, are the very players that descended like locusts feeding on fresh shoots in a field. Only now that they've completed their feeding frenzy and screamed bloody murder about it for weeks, it's going to be changed which means that players who didn't exploit the crap out of it are now to be screwed over because the end-game locusts got their way...again.

Which is more or less similar to what happened with Hunts in 2.x.

Completely agree with you 100%. The naysayers have nobody else but to blame if they don't like Diadem. People like myself who aren't locusts remembered this trailer:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkRTO7co_Yc

and used that as a guide on how to enjoy Diadem. I have so much fun relaxing with my FC and friends while we fish, mine, chat, kill a few monsters, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It's not Yoshi's fault that people are playing it wrong and it is unfortunate that he is going to have to waste his time making changes to it because of screaming locusts.

This post right here... (not to mention all the other's he's posted) just shows me he's probably just a troll. And yet we're all biting at it.. ugh.

They're also actively listening to suggestions from the fan base which is a big thing in my opinion, since many game companies tend to go with the "who cares what we make, it'll sell" approach and do little to patch content seen as broken by the community. While they may not implement every little suggestion made here on the forums, (and with good reason given that the community on here only represents a very small portion of the playerbase), they DO take suggestions. Anyone who's spent much time on this forum should know this, yet they act like our opinions go completely unheard. We got a buff to WM and GB fairly quickly after 3.0 came out, we got the "same role LB restrictions" pulled almost immediately due to backlash with them rethinking and reworking it, we get minor QoL updates all the time based on forum suggestions, and we got the Hauchefaunt minion and shield because of players requesting it, just to name a few things. I greatly applaud them for working hard to try and satisfy every facet of the community to some extent, while still trying to move forward with their own designs for the classes and content.

To Yoshi P, and the team in general. Thank you. Sincerely. This is easily the best MMO I have ever played, and I intend to be a supporter for a long time to come.
100% agree with you. Thanks for this uplifting post.
