Didn't FFXI also add some kind of additional "personal space" system at some point, beyond the Mog House? I remember there being a kind of small beach area, with other stuff you could do as well.

They did indeed. I was still an active player of FFXI when Seekers of Adoulin hit and although I didn't get into every facet of Mog Gardens, I was really impressed with how much effort went into them at such a late stage in the game.
