I never understood the appeal of virtual housing

When I play this game, I do activities like dungeons/raids/dailies/relic etc.
Why would I spend time in a useless area? If I don't feel like playing or finished what I wanted to do I start up a different game.

Is having your own virtual house really that amazing that tons of people would cry about not having one?

Housing is one of the best features in Everquest II, probably one of the reasons people still play it.

Just as some people like to raid, others like to PvP, and people like to craft, there are those that like having their own little slice of the world to decorate and call a home. Different strokes for different folks, right? So while you might not be interested, there are those that are.

Some people [like me and my FC] want one just for hanging out / crafting / or meetings. It's a nice touch.
others have personal reasons, like Roleplay, decorations , gardening etc. It's a personal preference. if you don't
find it appealing then don't get one lol

I direct you to the Sims franchise; an entire series dedicated to essentially reenacting everyday life in a virtual setting. It's one of the most popular PC series ever made. People like aesthetics, and the ability to create things on a whim. It's why glamour is the true endgame.

Gardening is kind of hogwash anyway. You can't even get the most basic soils for your patches just to start off, instead you have to rely on specialized ones which are a pain to get, even on grade 1 and 2.

I see housing like glamouring - A side activity that can provide a distraction from raids, dungeon runs and grinds. I, personally, enjoy decorating things. I did it already in minecraft and I have fun doing so here as well.
Plus, it keeps the players in the game, else they run danger of losing their house.
