Don't even know where to begin with the crafting tokens for relic.

I see a lot of guides on getting the unidentified items for the relic quest, but I haven't seen anything on getting started with the crafting tokens.

Am I going to be forced to pick up a gathering or crafting class if I want to get the 16 crafting tokens in a timely matter? I was never someone who could make or keep a lot of money on a MMO. Hell, the most gil I ever had was a bit over 300k. I don't have any crafting nor gathering class leveled (mostly because leveling them tends to bore me quickly) and I have no idea where to even get started with this. I can easily see a plan I can follow for every part of the quest except for the tokens. Is my only option to suck it up and force myself to level a gathering or crafting class to make money?

Also before anyone says if I don't like the relic quest don't do it, just don't. As a Drk, the weapon is BiS for me and in my opinion, that's reason enough for it to be mandatory for me.

I made all my money doing roulettes as a tank. I had over 12 mil before the relic patch dropped.

If you're not big on making money, then yes. The easiest way to get the crafted tokens is to level up a gathering class and go get the materials yourself from the diadem and have people make the tokens for you. It's really not that hard you just spam leves and do the GC turn-ins every day.

If you're bored, turn on some netflix while you burn through your leves.

The materials aren't that bad to get according to a few people I know. The only bad part is that you need a specialist crafter. I hate to seem like that person but you have no friends or FC mates with 60 Crafting/Gathering?

Not to be rude, but it's kind of obvious isn't it?

Google the materials and ask someone to craft them for you if you can't make them yourself.

And how long did that take to build up?

Issue (joke): I don't have netflix.

Which gathering class would you recommend to start with then? My FC suggested I take up fishing which I tried doing for a while before getting bored.

I have friends and FC mates with the classes, hell I have friends who could probably buy me the mats for every single class in the game and still have plenty of money leftover, but I don't want to impose on them. I don't mind asking for them to craft me stuff, however, I make it a point to supply all of the materials myself or an equivalent amount of gil (generally when the items are sold in large stacks that I can't exactly afford but can afford the singular amounts that I need). I make it a point to not overly rely on them. Normally I am able to make do, but this time the total cost for all 16 HQ items are a bit high for someone like me so I am trying to figure out what are my options because right now, I don't know where to even begin.

Except I don't have the money to even buy all the materials for the tokens. I am pretty sure I mentioned that in my original post.

    So farm them....?

Stil not seeing the problem here. Getting your own mats is free. Again, I thought this was obvious. >.>

Now, if what you mean is you have literally never touched botanist or miner, well get started on it. They are good to have if you want to have gil, you can even sell all the stuff you gather while leveling and make a fortune.

I am more wondering if it would it be faster to just level one gathering class and sell things to make money and buy the materials or faster to level each gathering class to farm all of the materials. I am trying to figure out how to do this as quickly as I can. I rather not do this over a long period of time.

Also, I thought it would be obvious from looking at my lodestone profile that I am a dirty peasant who has never touched mining or botanist OTL.

Look up the mats and assess the prices on your server.

If you need more than the initial HQ Chimera gathering gear (will cost you close a million gil even w/o melds) to gather the items, you are either time gated by the red scripts (forget end of January lol) or you need to spend A LOT MORE MILLIONS to buy crafted DoL gear.

Bottom line: waiting for the items to come down in price is probably your cheapest way out in terms of both: gil and playtime invested.

Just to make this crystal clear: this is NOT World of Warcraft. You do NOT just level up a gatherer and go on happy gathering excursions. They need GEAR and certain STATS in order to be able to collect the items (let alone get them in HQ), so no matter how you slice it you are looking at a seven figure initial investment at the least. More if you want to push through quicker.

I rather get the weapon sooner than later though. I would like to be able to use it before it becomes obsolete. So I rather not wait for months. At the very latest, I want to have it in time for 3.2. Also, I would probably not look into directly acquiring the materials but rather using the gathering class to make the money to buy the materials themselves since that seems like a faster alternative to directly gathering the materials, especially if I have to spend millions to get the equipment needed. I wonder if I should do something about my general aversion to non-combat stuff in MMOs... I may need to find a way to force myself to like it.
