    Just So Everyone Knows: Housing

When you see someone selling their house/plot in the PF or shouts/yells, you are NOT buying the house/plot, you are paying for that person to relinquish their right that plot.

YOU CANNOT BUY/SELL/TRADE PLOTS, HOUSES, AND/OR DEEDS.

If you are paying someone to give up their plot/house, be sure you have enough to buy the actual plot as well AND that you are right there at the plot when they do it. Someone else can and will scoop it up, especially if it is a medium or large plot.

Here is a link to a page with the current prices for certain plots in High, Mid, and Lower-classed Servers (Economically speaking), based on size and plot-class:
    List

I've seen several forums with people complaining about people "trading" homes and thought you all should know how this works... >w>()

    THE MORE YOU KNOW! :-D

    TL;DR about if its 'allowed':

If you buy and sell a plot to other players...meh

However if someone REPORTS you... you can and will be punished

This information was procured from a GM personally, do what you will with it.

Step 1: Find an FC that wants to sell their house.
    Step 2: Strike a deal
    Step 3: Join the FC
Step 4: Place the gil into the FC chest (no limitation.)
Step 5: FC leader makes you the new leader of the FC.

Plot, house, and deed has now been bought/sold/traded. Nevertheless, the original point being made contains good information for people buying non-FC housing.

This makes me wonder, has anyone that paid a relinquishment fee gotten sniped?

    Another thing everyone should probably remember;

A4: We have confirmed that we will be increasing the amount of land for existing housing areas in Patch 3.3. After this we’re planning to introduce mansion type housing, and housing in the Ishgard area. These two are being developed in parallel, but in order to meet everyone’s demand, we will implement the mansion-type housing as a first priority. Currently it’s being planned that one mansion will be able to hold 512 residences. As for gardening, we think this will be difficult, but we’re currently developing new pots that will allow gardening, so please look forward to this.

As for furnishings with high demand, we have a goal now to increase the amount of items which can be placed, so please wait a bit longer.
So, 3.3 will be adding new land, at a minimum expect 180 plots for one new Ward. Two new Wards gives 360, and so on. No new Wards but a new subdivision gives 720 new plots, two new subdivisions (one can dream, right?) gives a welcome 1440 new plots. New Wards and new Subdivisions? Lets not get crazy...

After that, disregarding 3.3s new Wards/Subdivisions, we get an Ishgardian Ward, currently each zone has 8 Wards and Subdivisions (480 plots), so an Ishgardian zone would add that amount, before factoring in new Wards/Subdivisions.

Mansions are a bit of a unknown at the moment, but it sounds like Private Rooms without the need for an existing estate... Lets say one Mansion per zone, that would give us four in total, allowing for over 2,000 residence without the Free Company Estate attachment. This essentially sounds like Mog Houses (FFXI) to me, which is something that should have been implemented in 2.1 before Wards, but whatever. Given the developers original launch goal of maybe 100k subscribers, I can see how Housing failed the way it did... They're also apparently developing plant pots, which takes the main allure of owning land (Gardening) and shoves it indoors (again, like FFXI). Chocobo Stables still need to be sorted out (although a version not attached to Housing was mentioned forever ago), but gardening is the thing that makes me go "Why are you even trying to turn a quick profit selling land? Gardening is the easiest way to make Gil in this game..."

Now, ask yourself, is it worth spending 50~100m, plus the cost of the land, to evict some tw*t who is exploiting the current situation, or is it worth waiting for 3.3 when far more plots will open up? At minimum, 3.3 will be giving us 180 new plots, far more than just opened up and far more than I saw crowding the areas hoping to snatch up land (though perhaps that was just my server). Let them try to sell their land, come 3.3 and onwards I imagine it'll be very hard to rip people off like that.

Really, were I to complain about something right now, I'd complain that 3.3 is the earliest we can expect anything. People are exploiting the current system? Meh, I'm sure some also finally got a plot they wanted, too, lets not forget that... I'd say they cancel each other out, and this is a non-adjustment like everyone expected it to be. Honestly, new plots should have been implemented now, either last update or next update... If we can't get new plots until 3.3, then SE should have held off on the eviction update until 3.2. It's just logical to have abandoned plots freed up around the same time new plots are introduced.

And what happens if the FC Leader doesn't do step 5 and just kicks you out of the FC?
Sure, you could try ruining their reputation on that server but all they have to do is transfer and wa-la, fresh start with your gil.
You could try reporting them to the GMs but most of the time, they won't get involved with player-on-player, in-game transactions. And you would be ratting yourself out for buying a plot through none-official ways, which Niqote has just pointed out is a punishable offense.

Permits are for constructing houses, you still have to buy the plot and the previous owner still has to demo their old house first.
