Issues launching the launcher

Hi,

Having trouble starting the FFXIV launcher. I'm on vacation and am borrowing someone else's computer to play the game, so I copied the SquareEnix folder over and am trying to launch with ffxivboot.exe. Simply copy-pasting the folder over and launching from the boot file worked fine on my netbook so I figured everything would work even better on the computer I'm borrowing (desktop with specs more similar to my tower at home). However, the launcher only gets as far as loading a blank black screen before I get "FFXIV A REALM REBORN has stopped working" error message and I have to close the program. I've tried adding ffxiv.frontier.com and the program folder to the antivirus exceptions list but to no avail. Can anyone help me out? Please let me know if there's more information I should give.

its been frustrating as hell..i just purchased another 6months sub and i can not even play game in my free time. Black launcher window or if i am lucky enough to get to put my login details in after a few moments it errors.
