and i would take mob grinding then Kill X amount of Y or take A item to NPCA any day. 1hour of grinding mobs none stop i can get a lot of levels 1hour of doing loads of quest that may take more then 10min to do for only 1k EXP is pointless.

Exp and item rewards are irrelevant, those can easily be adjusted at any time. Fun factor and variety can't.
I just don't think it should follow every other game layout. Leves are like that and it get boring at least i have more fun mob grinding don't ask why i just like it more![]()

Well, it's happening. They're going to "westernize" FFXIV. So good luck to ya.
I read this as well, you are not alone. I too am concerned. I personally have been hoping they work towards making combat leveling very similar to FFXI as it is one of the only games out there that I have ever said is fun to level in. I've already done about 10,000 quests in over 20+ different MMO's no thanks.
Then they lose a big % of there fans and then when blizzard new mmo come out guess what? everyone going to leave too that and FFXIV only going to have you know it FFXI players who still be playing ffxi due to ffxiv being western.
Anyways even if they make it western does not mean that it wont have storyline lol and that what all western game does not have storyline as you go on playing.

Why does game development have to be either eastern or western? Why can't we have a hybrid that takes the best of both?
If seen this argument nearly every time XIV gets something non-XI planned. "We're getting <new feature>?! Ah hell the game is lost to the west everyone drop your subs."
It isn't that it can't be... you know, because that's what the game is now.Why does game development have to be either eastern or western? Why can't we have a hybrid that takes the best of both?

There's a mix of eastern and western MMO concepts being added all the time too. What you're looking for is essentially what XIV is and always will be. However, we have to look at the game we had initially and realize it was lacking pretty much any feature you'd expect from a western MMO and in trying to balance it they are adding more of these western MMO features for the time being but looking at the roadmap to 2.0 I am thinking they'll have struck a pretty good balance. Too bad that's more than a year away!
Did you see the ui? they even changing the action to square why not keep it how it is? what wrong with it?Why does game development have to be either eastern or western? Why can't we have a hybrid that takes the best of both?

I don't like western layout of gaming wow, aion, rift all follow this rule level by quest or dungeon and you do raids and PVP. while in ffxi sure BCNM,SKY,SEA where all dungeon it was something different it had it own feel with a storyline with it.
Yoshi-p said he be making more diff stuff but it wont be called raids/dungeon but i guess he change his mind lol. I just hope it does not become 100% western then i be fine with the game.
